Feb 232008

Okay… so it’s February. Well over at Splitcoastampers I’ve joined a group of real go getters because as a professional procrastinator I need someone or something to push me. This group is the Christmas Card Challenge Group. Yup every month starting in January we make 10 Christmas cards. That way when it is actually time to send them out in November we have a wonderful stash of 100 cards ready to go. (November? Ha! got you there… you know I do it in a panic just days before the New Year.) *sigh* Anyway if I can keep up with this group I may actually be so excited for cards this year I will get them sent before 2009! Woohoo!

Here are my February cards.

I don’t usually second guess myself too much but I had such a time with a couple of little details… shiny brads or antiqued? a bow or corner ribbon or just left plain? I finally did 5 cards with shiny brads and 5 with antiqued. And I decided (I think) that I actually like the card best with no ribbon at all. What do you think?

The image (including the sentiment) is all just one big beautiful stamp from DeNami Design. I stamped it on Whisper White card stock with Jet Black Stazon ink. I then outlined the trees with a Bashful Blue SU! marker and filled in the tree trunks with Creamy Caramel. It is mounted on Brilliant Blue card stock. The ribbon is from Michael’s.

And just for fun, here are my January cards.

  1. Love the cards. And I agree…I like the plain best!
Plus there’s the added advantage–‘no lumps or bumps’ causing the need for additional postage.

  2. I am sooooo impressed, and soooo jealous!!! I have always wanted to do this – but just haven’t!!! Now you have 20 cards done — WOW!! I’ll bet that is an amazingly good feeling!!! I love both sets of cards — easy enough to mass produce, and gorgeous enough to evoke a genuine WOW from the recipient!!! Great job!!!

  3. You go girl, these are awesome. You will be so happy that you did this come November. I on the other hand wil be kicking myself for not!

  4. Oh, I am envious! I said I wished I had done this last year and that I was going to try this year. Ugh. Not one are done. Is it too late to catch up? LOL.

  5. They’re both wonderful Christmas cards! Congrats on joining the CCC group. I did that last year. Although I didn’t make it through the whole year, it sure was great to have quite a few cards done ahead of time. I have that Denami stamp, and I love what you did with it. Maybe I will have to CASE your card for some of my own 2008 Christmas cards! :o) Linda

  6. Now that is a great idea….get ’em done now while you have a little extra time. Love it! And thanks so much, Susan, for commenting on my blog. I really appreciate that. I’m gonna add you to my blog roll as well. Have a great weekend!

  7. Antique brads, no bows, 50 to go, please. Do you take cash, check or trade? Better make that 60, I plan on making a few new friends this year – as I’m wearing out my old ones. And don’t worry, before I send even ONE of your fabulous cards to anyone I will ask myself this….are they Card-Worthy? If the answer is no then they’ll get nothing, nada, zilch….not even a, gasp, Hallmark! If the answer is yes, then I shall send them one of your cards and enclosed with it will be instructions for how to preserve the card, including how to frame it and the best locations to display it in their home….which, as we know, there is only one place….on the table in the entry where all who enter can see it! Have your people contact my people to arrange for a money drop….I LOVE the cards! Nan

  8. LOVE these and all the others I ‘ve seen in your blog!!! Wow you are so GOOD!!! Yup I’m with Nan, I’d buy these in a heart beat! They are so dang gorgeous!!! Oh and No bow is better, see your instincts are as good as mine. heehee!

I’m also very impressed with your banner, even more so when I read it was from your OWN photo, adapted by you on the computer, it is BE-A-U-TIFUL. Mad computer/photo skills too! Your killing me!!!

  9. Susan — You’re amazing! Maybe I’ll join you. I should. I STILL haven’t sent 2007’s out yet — it’s the first year since I’ve been married that people haven’t received the notorious BHN (Burrage Holiday Newsletter). Our list is enormous, and people keep asking my DH if everything is okay between us since they didn’t get our card yet… I keep swearing I’m going to it for St. Patrick’s Day… *sigh* I’m such a loser!

Anyway, I agree — no bow. And I love January’s, too. I’ll remind you in the fall to add me to your list! : )

  10. these cards are lovely, so glad I found your blog, you are one very talented lady, have added you to my google reader so will be back often.

  11. Great cards!! And how great to get some done now!
