Today is my blog’s one month birthday! Thanks to everyone who has stopped by. I’m having so much fun! I hope that you’ve had an occasional smile while you’ve been here!

Before I get to my card today can I backtrack just a bit? Remember my tulip “painting” a couple of days ago… the one I painted at my friend and neighbor Michelle’s home? Well one of the other ladies (Nan) in the class took some pictures of Michelle’s beautiful work. I just wanted to share them with you. The top two are watercolors.

And this gorgeous tulip one is acrylics.

Oh and check out Nan’s sketch and subsequent painting!

All these gorgeous tulips… Here I am struggling trying to paint just ONE!!

But I decided I have an excuse. See that plate in the lower left hand corner of the picture? Those are coconut macaroons dipped in chocolate. Now seriously… who could concentrate with those intoxicating goodies right under their nose!!

This evening my youngest son had his first high school track meet of the season. He ran the anchor on the 4 X 400 relay. His team came in first! Well if you’ve ever been to a track meet, they run the events in the same order every time. The 4 X 400 is the very LAST event. So the meet started at 4pm. Zach ran at around 7:30! But it was worth the wait to see him cross the finish line! *insert huge grin here*

So I didn’t get a chance to stamp anything tonight. However I still have a card to share that I made awhile ago. While browsing magazines and catalogs I will often see pictures that my brain will immediately twist into some sort of card design. (I think this may be some sort of sickness. Not sure.) Anyway I came across this chandelier in a Neiman-Marcus catalog.

And finally the card that came from it.

All stamped images are gold embossed. There is gold leaf around the Cool Carribean panel and also on the large oval behind the sentiment. The flowers are all cut out and popped up on dimensionals.

Stamps: Polka Dots & Paisley, Small Script

Paper: Cool Carribean, Cranberry Crisp, Whisper White

Ink: Versamark, Gold Leaf

Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Ribbon, Rhinestones, Oval Punches, Gold Cording

Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!

  1. Amazing interpretation! Love the colors, the panel of gold cording (very cool), and the spray of flowers with bling . Fun card! Now the question is, “Which palace should we hang the chandelier”?

  2. Susan – you have been really inspired…your card is stunning!!!
The embossing, the flowers with the gemstones – just fantasic!!!
    WOW – WOW – WOW!!!

  3. Oh yeah, OBVIOUSLY an artist!!!!! (big grin of happiness) I told you so!!! What a beautiful interpretation, I love it.

  4. what a gorgeous card! What is the embellishment on the left side of your card that looks like twisted, knotted mesh? I LOVE it and I can see that being used on a seaside-themed card or scrapbook page! I love the way a chandelier inspired you to create such a pretty card! Those paintings are lovely too, but I still think your tulip was not as bad as you thought it was. If it makes you feel better, blame the cookies šŸ™‚
Happy Birthday for one month of great blogging!

  5. Those paintings are gorgeous! But I love your card — very cool to see how you interpreted that ad you saw. Very beautiful!

  6. So not fair…so, so NOT FAIR! You see a picture in a magazine – and from that you make an incredible card?!?! How does that even work?? Your brain is just wired differently than mine – or perhaps, it’s just that yours IS wired and mine is unplugged?? I think that card is my new favorite of yours – it’s so clever! Oh, I’m now going to take back my cyber-thief apology since you’ve now stooped to my level – isn’t it fun!? I still like your tulip better!

  7. What a beautiful interpretation of the chandalier… Great card!!

  8. Gorgeous jeweled card. Isn’t it wonderful that God gave us different talents?

  9. Great card!! Congrats to your son on the 4×400 win! I did a lot of track (in the field events) and always enjoyed watching this race. Your neighbour is quite the talented artist too! But then, you are very talented at your craft as well šŸ™‚

  10. Congratulations! Wow, Susan my youngest son is in the 9th grade as well. He played football in the Fall (he’s 6′ and weighed 185 at 14, he turned 15 last month). He’s on track now, he throwing a disc and that big huge ball that looks like a bowling ball, don’t ask me what they call that thing . . . shot put or something like that . . . I’m just a dorky mom. He was great at football, but he’s doing the track thing just to be social . . . you know . . . girls and all that. LOL

Your inspiration card is just stunning! Your interpretation is so gorgeous! I’m laughing because I do the same thing . . . I have so many Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Pottery Barn, etc. mini catties in my stamping room. I have a quick question . . . what is that gorgeous fiber on the left side of the panel? . . . it’s just stunning and adds so much to this gorgeous card. TFS.

  11. Wow those are some gorgeous paintings!! I can’t concentrate around food either!

    Congratulations to your son!!

This card is amazing!! That ribbon? is so fabulous, love the colors and the rhinestones!!

  12. Susan, I simply love this card! I am definitely going to case it or tweak it sometimes!

I am like you about my stamps, but I have recently sold about 30 sets on ebay since I do not have a blog. I had to make room for new stamps and stuff…yes, I agree w/you, it might be kind of a sickness LOL!

  13. Wow, what a magnificent card and from that picture. I want to sit in your brain just for a minute or two. Love every inch of it. And the colors are wonderful. TFS

  14. Wow – you may think of it as a sickness, but I *wish* my brain could come up with such great cards from inspiration in magazines (or on other blogs!!). And WOW your friend is an amazing artist!!

  15. Those paintings are so beautiful!!

Congrats on your son’s victory!! Woo hoo!!
