Drama:   I was setting up to take a picture of the card (below) and dropped my camera.  And I didn’t just drop it.  The strap got caught on a table as I was walking by and it jerked it away from me.  In trying to catch it, I actually pushed it down even harder.  It crashed.. it crashed really hard onto the wood floor.  And yes, it broke.  RIP dear camera.  So DH found an old thing on some bottom shelf in his den.  I will be using that for a bit until my “new” camera arrives.  Be gentle concerning the quality of my photos.  (Actually having an excuse for poor quality photos may not be such a bad thing for me!  There’s always a bright side to everything, right?  lol )

My teenage son’s cross country team has had a great season.  The team mom has been really great, too.  There have been so many trips with some involving airline flights and hotel rooms and dinners and rental cars, etc. etc…  So many details and she has kept us all organized.  This card is for her.  I tried to make it look like many of the courses that our racers have been running lately.  The stamps are from Flourishes “Forest of Trees” set.

  6. What a beauty of a card. Wonderful mix of colors, stamps and DP. I know this will sound silly, but I just love the addition of the little oak leaves; they look like the real thing in miniature.

  13. What kind of new camera are you getting (I’m thinking about replacing my old one) – and love the card!!!

  14. Oh, Susan! I am really sorry that the camera is broken… Good thing you had another one! I don’t think that this picture is bad! It can’t be bad just because your card is beautiful! In Russia we say: Beautiful will be always beautiful, no matter what!
Glad that your team mom is really great!

  15. Nothing wrong with the picture from the “old thing”. The card is just as gorgeous as always. Have fun with your new one when it arrives.

  16. No “bad pictures” here. This card is lovely and the camera seems to have captured it just fine. How well I remember those cross country days. I kind of miss them, actually. Your card does a great job depicting the theme. Our boys ran plenty up North, as well as down South. Sorry about your camera. I’m sure that was a tense moment. 🙁

  17. Absolutely love this card. The colours are perfect for Fall, the tree image is wonderful, the punched leaves up top are great and your finishing touches are wonderful as always. She will love it!

  18. Susan, this card is a real tribute to what that old camera could have done. It has served you well. This card is a great use of the dp paper, focusing on the one lone tree taking center stage. I too like the small leaves…great addition.

Thank you for all of the wonderful projects you have shared on behalf of Flourishes. Your creative talent has been greatly appreciated.

  19. Hey–you do awesome stuff! Thanks for the inspirations! Question: Did anyone ever tell you that you look like Annie Lennox?? (THE EURYTHMICS )

  20. What a beautiful, yet subtle card — peaceful actually. I love it. I understand having to bury a camera — I dropped mine and broke it a year ago in Egypt on my first day there and had to rely on others’ photos for the next 3 weeks. A real bummer. But new cameras are great — always a step forward.

  21. Love it, trees are wonderful, and yes it does look like a cross country course! New camera – YAY!!!
    – Have a great day,
    Annie

  22. Oh my goodness, this card is the most gorgeous thing I’ve seen!! I LOVE how you used that pattern paper. On a sadder note, I’m so sorry to hear about your camera. Who would have thought such a hard spill could happen.

  23. OH….. that is a huge bummer about the camera!! I know what it feels like to be without one. I lost my charger for my battery last week and felt LOST! Isn’t that sad!! LOL! Your card is just stunning! I know the team mom will love it!! 🙂

  24. Sorry to hear about your camera. Your card still looks absolutely beautiful.

  25. The card is gorgoues and the photo is just fine! Sorry about the camera though, that stinkys ! 🙂

  26. I love the card the colour combinations are stunning. Your photograph does not seem to have suffered at all for the change of camera but hope you have your new one soon.

  27. Oh Susan, I dropped a camera years ago on asphalt and it shattered into a gazillon pieces. I was so upset! Stephen was in pre-school and it was their Thanksgiving parade, he was dressed up in a paper bag indian costume. Daniel was 8 months old and I was holding him on my hip while trying to take a picture of Stephen. Suddenly Daniel lunged to get out of my arms. It was either drop him or the camera. Alas, my camera met its doom . . . and I was quite angry at my little tyke for ruining my opportunity to get those once in a lifetime shots of Stephen.

A fabulous card by the way!

  28. Gorgeous Susan! Love the rich colours and dimension, and your photo is wonderful!

  29. Very pretty and earthy looking Susan. SOrry about the camera, not fun. Hope your new one is even better than this last one. I am back from DW and it was a BLAST! I have some pictures on my blog and some exciting news! If you have time stop by and see! :0)

  36. BEAUTIFUL card! And how sweet of you to thank the team mom this way.

Bummer about the camera…but, on the bright side, how else does one get new toys without feeling selfish? lol

  37. Your card is beautiful even if your camera is not the best right now. Sorry to hear you had to put one down so to speak. But it is a good reason to get a new one. 🙂

  38. Oh, what a beautiful card! Wow!!! Also, the snowflake card you posted with your Just Rite candy–gorgeous! I love the muti-colored gems in the snowflakes. How brilliant and beautiful! Congratulations to the winners! I’m so sorry about your camera. I feel bad enough when my battery goes dead at an inopportune time. . . I’ve kept my old camera for a back up. I don’t see a thing wrong with any of your photos, though.

  39. So sorry about your camera! I wish I had an excuse to use for my photos! lol
