Two more wedding cards today… but these cards were made with some FREE designer paper that came in the mail. And I’m sure the brides are going to love the papers I used for their wedding cards. How can I be so sure about that?
Yup, I love to use the wedding invitations to make the wedding card. It really is free designer paper and usually of a very high quality! I even use the ribbons (or raffia in this case) if it comes along for free, too. Plus it makes some of the original decisions to making a card much easier such as the feel or style and color scheme.
So next time, don’t toss those invites. Use ’em!!

Very pretty Susan! Great cards.
I usually do this with graduation cards, putting the school emblem on the card I make, but I never thought to do it with wedding cards! Brilliant! The couple will surely appreciate that you took the time to do this for them! It makes such a personal gift! Your cards are beautifully done!

Wow! Beautiful wedding cards. And I like your idea of using the elements from the wedding invitation to make the card. You know you’re using colors, etc. that are pleasing to the bride.
I did something similar when making graduation congrats cards this year. I used the grads’ school colors in choosing paper and cut out elements from the announcements to embellish my cards.

You always do such a beautiful job, Susan! I LOVE your idea of taking the invitations and using the dp (and ribbon) for your wedding cards — so creative…and you KNOW they’ll love what you make! Both of these are simply stunning. I especially love the eyelet border punch with the pearls on the blue one.
BTW, you were correct in reading between the lines on Chloe’s ‘song’ the other day — I didn’t want to come out and say it, but for a 9-YO, she’s pretty astute. 😉

Ooooooh, these are pretty! I’ve often used wedding invitations as inspiration for the card, but I’ve never used parts of the invitation, itself. It’s much more meaningful this way, and I can imagine the card becoming a wedding keepsake. How could they not love them? I certainly do!
