About my friend, Nan…  I’ve spoken of this incredibly talented lady before.  (A link to her blog “Pots and Pins” is on my sidebar, too.)  She has written books (and had them published!).  She is a celebrated chef (and has been on TV “Emeril Live”!).  And she quilts.. the most beautiful quilts.

Well not long ago, I became the recipient of one of Nan’s quilts.  Really!?!  Pinch me!!  How do you thank someone for such a gift.. one that has taken so much of their time and talent to create?

Well, of course, to begin with one must make such a gift giver a card.  (Bet you didn’t see that one coming.  hehe)  SU!’s “Quilt Quips” was the perfect stamp set for it.

I kept trying to make Nan a pink rosey sort of card to compliment the quilt.  But it wasn’t working.   Then Pink Paislee’s “Queen Bee” designer paper jumped out at me.  Was it the name or just the beautiful patterns and colors.  Either way, I think they were both perfect for Nan.  She is the Queen Bee when it comes to quilts!

I used an Inchie for the quilt block image.  Love those Inchies.  They give such a sturdy element to pop up and add dimension and interest to a card.

The inside of the card and the envelope got a little love as well.

Thank you again and again, Nan.  This beautiful creation warms my body and my soul.

  1. Hi Susan, Gorgeous quilt and your card could not be a more perfect ‘thank you’ for the gift you received from your friend.
Love how you incorporated inchies into this card. The colors and composition are wonderful. Your card is also a gorgeous creation.

  2. Ok, well, the quilt is just stunning and you must just cherish it….but your card is equally special and precious. I’m sure she will treasure it!

  3. Wow!! Blessed you are to receive such a gift! I’m sure she will adore your card too – the sentiment is perfect. Love the DP you used too. Enjoy snuggling in it (unless it is decorative)

  4. What a gorgeous quilt; the colours are beautiful.

I have only ever made two quilts in my life. They are both the same design as they were for my girls and they shared a room. One is pink and green, the other is pink and blue. Well as you know little girls grow up and they now have their own rooms and the one with the green quilt has chosen blue for her accents and the one with the blue quilt has chosen green! I told them they could put their quilts away in favor of new duvets but they must promise that one day they will pull them out for their own little girls!!

I think your card is very pretty, the colours are soft with a vintage feel, perfect for a quilt card.

  5. What a lucky girl!…and such a wonderful card as well!

  6. Oh my word, Susan…what a gorgeous quilt and it’s all your’s…whoohoo!!!!! I have been quilting on my quilt for a year now and only have one block finished….I’ll be working on it when my kids put me in a nursing home…LOL!!! I love your beautiful card, too…the colors are sooo pretty and the sentiment is just perfect for your friend!!!

  7. Everything about this post is beautiful! The quilt is amazing and your card is beautiful! I love the row of trim at the bottom and the gorgeous colours and papers you chose!

  9. You’re right, that’s the perfect stamp set to make a card for Nan. Love the lace border and the colors you picked.

She did a beautiful job with the quilt. All those colors are so gorgeous!

  10. What an amazing gift to receive a hand-made quilt from someone! It’s gorgeous and so is the thoughtful card you created to thank Nan for her gift! It’s perfect with the inchie, lace border and sentiment, and she’s going to treasure this card as much as you will cherish the quilt she made you!

  11. Oh, gosh, Susan! Both creations are so gorgeous. Love the lacy border on your card. That quilt is a treasure for sure.

  12. Hi Susan what an amazing quilt. I truly appreciate hand crafted items (Because they are made with Love) This quilt is an example of this. Your friend put a lot of time skill and love into her gift and your card is a reflection of this.

  13. Ah shucks! I’m blushing! You failed to mention what an IDIOT I am and how I have NO memory and no grace whatsoever…so I thank you for that! I’m just thrilled you like the quilt – and my newest “Susan Card” is framed and on my desk top – next to the “Mint Water” card from a few years ago…if you keep sending me cards I’ll soon be able to open my very own “Susan Roberts Card Museum” and I’ll be able to charge an admittance fee!!! Of course, I’ll happily split all the proceeds with you – you can buy more paper and I’ll buy more fabric – it’ll be win/win! Love you to pieces Susan!! xo, Nan
