Once again my youngest son is off to college.  This year he has rented a home with a 12 month lease… as in not coming home next summer.  This one feels more like the real deal than last year’s move into the dorms where students are required to vacate their rooms for almost 4 weeks at Christmas and the entire summer.  He is coming back today for a few days to celebrate his birthday and to pick up his computer.  Then his room will be empty.

For his big “2-0” day his brothers have gotten him a skydiving adventure.  My oldest son loves to skydive and will be taking Zach on his first jump.  (You will NEVER see me jumping out of a perfectly good plane!  That’s just not on my bucket list of things to do!)

I thought this little guy was the perfect image for his card.

And the inside includes the second part of the sentiment.

Thanks for “dropping by” today.  hehe  Happy Crafting.

  1. Perfect card for the occasion. You are much calmer about the sky diving than I would be. I would be so nervous. My son moved out permanently a few months ago, it was a huge adjustment for me so I got a puppy. Hope he has a wonderful birthday.

  2. Better him than me! – the sky diving part, not the college part. An adorable card and so appropriate. I’m sure he will be home often.

  3. Susan, this card is perfect! Hope your son has a blast on his birthday!

  4. Awesome card for your son and his adventure! I’m with you…I like the view from inside the cabin!!

  5. A skydiving monkey! What an adorable image and perfect for your son’s birthday.

  6. Oh, Susan…I do remember those days. The day our youngest moved out for good, we turned his room into an office. He was shocked when he came home…hee, hee…we told him he was welcome to visit often but the once he left the “nest” he was flying on his own….guess that’s a perfect card in more ways than one!

Happy birthday to your son! Gorgeous card from his momma!

  7. Oh I so know what you are saying about knowing they won’t be coming home for their breaks, when my daughter called home to say she got a job on campus over the summer of 2010, I was so bummed, luckily the campus had some dorms that they kept open for those kids that would be staying to work on campus. Then of course this summer she got married, and her Dad has taken over her room for his Man cave, now she is the one that is bummed when she came home for a visit and saw her room was totally different.
Hope your son enjoys his present, I am with you, don’t see the need to jump out of a perfectly good plane…LOL!
Your card is just perfect and will be a great reminder of his first jump, too cute!

  8. Perfect birthday card for the skydiver! Love your awesome design. Gosh, how do you feel about being an empty nester?

  9. Happy Birthday to your son, Susan! Your card is so adorable! This stamp is perfect for skydiving!
I can’t even imagine how it feels when your kids leaving the house…
My hugs to you from me!

  10. Very cute card! I love whay you had to say about jumping out yourself…. “a perfectly good plane” is almost not good enough for me! 🙂

  11. I don’t even like to get IN a plane, let alone jump OUT of one!! LOL I admire his sense of adventure, but as a Mom that must make you just a tad bit nervous?! Great card to help him celebrate his special day, and that’s probably going to give you an extra room to use now that he’s going to college!

  12. At Lake Elsinore they used to say “What makes you think it is a perfectly good airplane”lololol This card is really perfect I know he will love it too!

  13. This card is perfect for his birthday adventure! I’m sure you’re glad he was able to come home for a few days! My DD is stuck at college (her birthday is this weekend too) due to the flooding here.

  14. Very cute and fun! Those empty nest years seem a long way away, but I bet they sneak up on a person, don’t they!

  15. Yikes I’m scared just thinking of that kind of jump..I limit mine to like
jump for joy. Cute card and perfect for the “you take my breath away” kind of experience. Pat
