A fun Inspiration Challenge this week over on Splitcoaststampers.  I played along using one of the chocolate holly topped cupcakes as my inspiration. I drew from the holly theme and the red, green and chocolate color scheme.

The inside of the card got some love as well.

It’s been awhile since I took any pictures at night.  I had forgotten how much the natural lighting of the day helps in creating a good photo.  Never having invested in a lightbox, these were as good as I could do.  Do you have a lightbox?  If so, do you like it and have you found it to be a good investment?  Thanks for your input!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  Happy Crafting!

  1. Beautiful card. I love the way you give attention to the inside as well. I always struggle with making the inside as pretty as the outside. You have inspired me. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  2. What a stunner! I love this image which I have been resisting, but I think you may have just enabled me to make a purchase! Beautiful work, Susan.

  3. Just stunning, Susan! The damask background is beautiful with your framed holiday bird. No lightbox either. Use a Verilux desk lamp for work and lighting photos – really close to natural light.

  4. Fabulously coloured image and great damask bg. No light box here, just a windowsill with natural light 🙂

  5. What a pretty inside this card has. I am inspired to create something special inside some of my cards. I love the coloured panel on the front too.

  6. Beautiful, Susan! LOVE that paper!

  7. Hi Susan! Beautiful card! I get your blog update email and read where you were looking for a light tent… I have an easy tutorial on my blog that has been well received by stampers… Here’s the link, it’s short and right to the point! : )

  8. Oh, that’s lovely. I’ve been eyeing that set in the catalogue myself! I think you’ve given me one more reason to get it, you enabler, you! I’d really only thought of that bird as black & white like a chickadee but I love how you’ve changed up the colours – it’s very believable.

  9. Your card is lovely inside and out, and I love the damask behind that gorgeous cardinal image!
I never invested in a light tent, but I made a “light box” from a piece of foamcore that I spent a whole $1 on at Michaels! I use it at night or on rainy, cloudy days with my trusty Ott light!

  10. Beautiful card Rainy..love the bg paper and the way it’s used on the inner panel of the card. Simply lovely and elegant. Pat

  11. I love holly bushes and your bird is so sweet…. I don’t have a light box, we have french doors leading off the dining room so that is where I take my pics, like today’s card is bad because it was a rainy day that I took the pic, so not good lighting, but I don’t see me getting a light box, I think I saw on splitcoast about making your own if your interested

  12. Absolutely beautiful, inside and out!

  13. Wow, this is so gorgeous, I love that paper and the way you’ve decorated the inside. It’s a lovely design of card. CoB

  14. Oh my this is so so PRETTY!!~

  15. This is such a classy classy card!

  16. Ohhhhhh, those patterned papers are so dramatic. GORGEOUS card, Susan!!

….I usually take pictures in the daytime, too, because I don’t have a lightbox. I have one of those OTT lamps for when I can’t take a picture outside, but I don’t really like it.

  17. Oh, Susan!! This is fabulous! You’ve done a great job with the challenge. This is a very classy, elegant card.

  18. SO elegant Susan. Inside and out! I don’t have a light tent either – no space for that, but I do have OTT lights for pics, but I think I should still invest in an additional light to boost the background light, which I still wish I had more of!

  19. This card is stunning! I really love the print of the DP and how well it is going with the theme of the card!

  20. Susan, that’s gorgeous! Beautiful card, inside and out!
    Hugs and smiles

  21. Gorgeous card!! Love the beautiful image 🙂

  22. Beautiful and elegant! Lovely coloring! I don’t have a light box and can rarely get around to taking photos in daylight, so I use two Ott lights, white poster paper, and photo editing. I don’t always get it just right, but it’ll have to do.
