Dec 212011

A friend of mine has her birthday in a couple of days.  It must be kind of a bummer (or a relief depending on your perspective!) to have your birthday right in the middle of the Holiday Season.  So today we went to lunch, and I gave her a birthday card.

Added a little scored line for some interest on this CAS design.

Since I had SU’s Button Buddies out, I made a couple more cards with this fun set.

The vases on both of these cards were made by inking up the stamp and then spritzing it with water before stamping.

I have no idea who in the world I could ever give this next card to, but I think the little piggy in this set is SO cute!  lol

After stamping this ‘little’ guy with Chocolate Chip, I colored the image in with a Pretty in Pink marker.  Like the effect.  And the corduroy nose just cracks me up!

We are going to celebrate Christmas at our house tonight.  It just worked out better for our Seattle son.  That’s the beauty of having adult kids.  You can kinda do what ya gotta do to make it work.  Hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON!!

  4. Really sweet cards, Susan! I think the piggy is just perfect for a little girl’s birthday! Now all you have to do is come up with a little girl to give it to! =)

  5. Loved how you used the buttons, Susan!

  6. OK, the 2nd card with the strip “interrupted” by the vase is pure design genius! I LOVE that and will definitely keep that in mind for some future cards. Wonderful inspiration here. Your cards are wonderful for this post! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Best, Curt

  7. Fantastic cards, Susan. I especially like the dimension you created for the second card; and the piggy card is fantastic — very cute for one of your granddaughter’s birthday. All three are super terrific creations with great details.

  8. I agree with the other commenters, the strip around the vase on the second card is a great touch!
I would LOVE to pick which day works best to celebrate Christmas! LOL! Enjoy it, whenever you do!

  9. These are all so cute, Susan! I love the simplicity of the first one, and how you cut away the space for the vase in the second card. I don’t recall this set in the catalog, so I’m glad you explained how you achieved the look on those solid images. The spritz vase looks like a real piece of pottery, and I really love mottled, shaded, interesting pink of the pig. Yes, that button nose is darling! Merry Christmas!

  10. Very pretty vase and flowers, and love the piggy’s nose!

  11. All of the cards are amazing! Love the cute piggy card too! Especially his nose! 🙂
