The end of August… Growing up I always had such mixed feelings about this time of the year.  The warm and wonderful summer was almost over, and it was back to school and studying and going to bed at a much earlier hour.  But it was also exciting.  New classes and classmates, new teachers, and new adventures all awaited just days away.

I love this image for those feelings of long (long) ago that it invokes.

It’s always easy to add some fun by adding a couple of strips of designer paper to the inside of the card as well.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Just love it when you do that!  Oh and if you haven’t checked out my current Sketch Challenge, you can see it HERE!  There are still a couple of days left to play along.  Happy Crafting!

  1. I’m in awe of your wonderful coloring skills! Love the die cut frame also.

  2. I want to swing on that swing 🙂 Love the nestie you used on the corner as an accent. Lovely card.

  3. Love this card, Susan. Great idea for a card to send to my sister-in-law for her birthday next week. Perfect image for summer and end-of-summer. I don’t stamp near enough these days, but I have been sewing. Can’t seem to work in time for both. Love seeing what others are doing, though.

  4. This is such a pretty card Susan. Love this image and the way you’ve colored it.

  5. Susan you are amazing at watercolor! The card is perfect for these last summer days. Love it… Barb

  6. Great summer scene, love the corner treatment behind your image!
I was the same way growing up, now it just seems that all the seasons seem to just fly by

  7. Such a BEAUTY Susan!!~

  8. I love this, Susan! Great idea for a corner treatment. An altogether pretty card. I still have mixed feelings about the end of summer. When I was growing up rurally I always looked forward to the start of the school year so I could spend more time with my friends. It was interesting to see how much everyone changed over the summer. Amazing how much a kid can change in three months!

  9. Awww… Relaxing is what this says. WOnderful coloring.
I am with you on the end of summer thoughts. As an adult I think… ACK! They are growing so fast, is summer really over? Yet the new year has its excitement also. Hey I tried the sketch and well it all went down hill. LOL I did try and posted it today with a link to your sketch. ;0)

  10. Beautiful card and very nice memories!
