Isn’t it beautiful!?! It’s more of the Decorative Handmade Paper that a good friend gave me a little over a year ago.
Even the Bitty Blossom and leaves are made with it.
Now don’t tell anyone, but a large area of the bottom layer of this precious paper (the part that is covered with a coordinating designer paper) was actually cut out. It only looks like it is layered. So now, instead of being covered up, I have a good sized piece of paper to use another day while still getting the look of layers. LOVE.
One of the challenges that this card is playing in is Craftyhazelnut’s Patterned Paper April Challenge. I’m hoping that this little trick on the bottom layer doesn’t break the rules to cover the card base with dp… I mean there is designer paper all over the front of the card… right?

I love that embossing folder, wish you could just buy it in a store. Neat idea with the background, I usually throw those pieces away. I have some paper like that, like the idea of embossing it, great idea to make the flower with it too! Very pretty!

Lucky you to be the recipient of such beautiful handmade paper. Turned into a gorgeous card. I do my layers the way you describe, as it saves on weight for mailing (plus if it’s covered up, it is sort of a ‘waste of paper’ in my opinion). Loved your gorgeous roses, and the mesh embossing you have in the solid piece. It was a great idea to use one paper for your flower and the 2nd for your leaves. So very effective in your design. That’s some of the prettiest handmade paper I’ve seen! The stuff I have is all kind of dull and earthy, and I’m not even sure if I still have it. I’ll have to check. Beautiful card, Susan! I like the idea of cutting out the bottom layer to make it stretch. Great when you have a particular piece you’d like to use again. I love how the flower turned out, too!
