My DH and I just recently returned home from a month long trip to Mexico.  Of course, I had to take some stamps and papers and Copics on the trip!  Here is a card I made while there. Since there was a limit to the supply of colored cardstock I could fit in my one allotted “play” suitcase, the red border is instead a piece of Select White cardstock which was colored with the Copic for a perfect match to the lanterns.

A white gel pen was used to draw the pattern on the lanterns.

This card is playing along in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  “Winged Things”.

Just for fun I thought I would share some pictures of mangroves and critters that I took while on a little side trip into the jungle!  You can click on them to enlarge.

Remember to keep hands (and arms!) inside the boat!!

Thanks for stopping by today!
Happy Crafting!

  4. Welcome Home! Wow, this is a genius creation, Susan. What a great idea about making your own colored paper. Not only is it gorgeous, but an outstanding design. You have taken the use of a while gel pen to new levels! I am going to have to see if SU! has this set in digital format.

Outstanding photos of your trip. I would have freaked at the alligators.

  5. WB from your trip, and TFS the photos! I wouldn’t like being so close to those reptiles in the water though! LOL

  6. That is great you were able to get away and looks like you had a great time. Love the way you gave pattern to the lanterns and the butterflies stringing them up is such a great idea!

  7. I just love the card, Susan! Love how you added the lines to the lanterns and have the butterflies as though they’re holding them aloft. Great placement of the sentiment, and perfect match with the Copic colored border. Awesome vacation photos! Just look how well camoflauged each of the critters are. Amazing. I love the first photo which makes me feel like I’m taking that trip with you. So pretty! I really appreciate that you shared them.
