Over at Splitcoaststampers the Clean & Simple Challenge today is to CASE one of your earlier posted cards. So I have taken one that I made a few years ago with this stamp set. It is a much cleaner and simpler version of it.

HERE is the original card.

A closeup shows that the beehive and bee are still popped up on dimensionals to add some depth and interest. The main image panel is also popped up. What a fun challenge!

I have joined some other challenges, too!

Over the years I have copied and saved into documents many cards that talented crafters have made. Sometimes when I need a little help getting started on a card, I will browse these documents for inspiration. Well today I came across a card that I saved almost a decade ago! I loved it then.. And I love it now. Here is the card I CASEd. It is so perfect that I changed very little.

The gold cording is threaded through and adhered on the back of the cardstock. As usual I couldn’t resist the pearl/sequin combination. I just LOVE doing this!

I love vases. I have several stamp sets of vases. I have a vase punch. I have vase dies. So it was time to make a card using some of the many vases I have in my stash.
This vase punch is from 2018. So, yes, time to use it!

After masking the top of the image panel, the lower part was sponged to “ground” the punched and colored vases.

The flowers were stamped directly onto the image panel and colored with Copics.

To give the card some depth, the image panel was popped up on the card base using foam tape.

I usually forget about the inside of the card. But this time a coordinating sentiment was used.

Here’s a card for dad using a really easy “Back Fold Fun Fold” design.

Here is the CASEd card with a Tutorial: How to Make a Back Fold Fun Fold.

The plane is colored with Copics, die cut and popped up on three die cut circles of graduated sizes. The largest circle has been embossed to add texture and interest.

The circles are adhered to the folded flap. The card is opened by bending that flap backwards.

I always love finding these quick and easy fun fold cards.

I love forsythia. Growing up my mother had a huge beautiful bush in our front yard. When my first son was just a little boy we were visiting his grandma when the forsythia was in full bloom. Admiring the flowers he asked what they were called. I told him those flowers were “forsythia”. He then asked, “Sythia who?” It was such a sweet moment. My mom passed away over 40 years ago. Her home was sold and the forsythia bush disappeared shortly thereafter. But to this day whenever I see those little yellow buds, I recall that cherished moment. I love forsythia.

Although this card has many layers, it was fairly quick and easy to make. The wonderful designer papers make up the background. The stem, flowers, leaves and sentiment were all stamped and die cut.

A pearl was put on the sequin and then placed on the card. I do this a lot. I think it makes the sequin look like a flower.

This card is for one of my sisters. I don’t usually do anything on the back of my cards but thought she would get a kick out of this silly stamp.

Here’s a card for my oldest son whose birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. Not sure about the twine bow for a guy. I thought of just knotting the twine but decided (for him) that he wouldn’t mind. lol

The tree was sponged using a set of stencils. The background was embossed with a “Distressed Stripes” embossing folder. Love the gritty textured look that it gave to this “Country Woods” designer paper. The frame was made using two different sizes of rectangular dies. The sentiment was embossed using white embossing powder on a green cardstock.

Most of the time when I think of flowers I think of lots of beautiful colors. But every once in awhile, especially with vintage images, the image with no coloring can speak all for itself.

Here’s a very quick card with no coloring. The image was stamped several times and some distressing was added by sponging all around the image panel. A little paper piercing across the top and a simple popped up bee was added for some interest.

I have been trying to use some of my older stamp sets that have seen very little (if any) ink. This set is from 2018! It feels so good to pull out these stamps and USE THEM! It’s probably just relieving a guilty conscience.

Fun birthday card today for my college aged nephew. I think he will get a kick out of it.

After stamping and coloring the main image and stamping the sentiment, the image panel was adhered to some red cardstock. Then the upper left corner and left side of the image panel were paper pierced. The panel was then popped up with foam tape on the card base. The card base had a strip of designer paper applied to it before placing on the main image.

For the last month or so I have been going through some of my older stamps (and papers, crafting supplies, etc.) many of which I have never used! I made a decision that every other card I make needs to use at least one older stamp that has never seen ink.

I remember when I bought this set (nine years ago) I intended to use some Flower Soft on the topiary. Well it finally became a reality! And as it turns out, the Flower Soft was still soft and easy to use after being in a zip lock bag for years!

I’m so glad that I have begun to go through all of this fun stuff. It’s almost like going shopping!

Oh and just a little reminder: When using an embossing folder on the same panel as your sentiment… stamp the sentiment before embossing! You would think after all these years that I wouldn’t need to be reminded of that, but I do.

One of my granddaughters LOVES volleyball. My son coaches both her club team and her middle school team, so the whole family is pretty much consumed!! She is turning 13 this month. Here is a birthday card I made for her.

It is a pop up fun fold design. As you open the card the volleyball rises up above the net. Thought she would get a kick out of that.

And, of course, the most important part of the card was placed inside a back pocket!

HERE is another card with a tutorial that I made several years ago using this fun popup fold.

Happy birthday, Kira!
