***Check it out!!***

Beate has given me the beautiful Arte y Pico Award. Since I consider her one of the most talented and creative ladies in the world, this award coming from her means so much to me.

Thank you, Beate!!

I believe that I am now supposed to give it to 5 blogs that I think “deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and that also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.” There are so many awesome blogs that fit all of those criteria and probably most of those have already received this award a dozen times! But the 5 that I would like to give this award to are:

Sharon Johnson – Sharon has a fabulous blog and is one of the nicest people on the whole planet. She was such a help to me when I started my blog. I just love her!!

Michelle Zindorf – Michelle’s tutorials are so detailed and easy to follow. I can’t thank her enough for sharing her vision and artistry on her blog.

Dawn Lusk – Dawn was one of the first people to welcome and encourage me at Splitcoaststampers. Thank you, Dawn. Your friendship has meant so much to me.

Melody Schwartz – Melody has a beautiful blog filled with her many gorgeous creations. I love the way she can arrange flowers on a card.

Nan Slaughter – Nan is a good friend IRL and has a cooking and quilting blog. Oh and she knows what she’s talking about. She even appeared on Emeril, and he so TOTALLY flirted with her!

These are all such wonderful blogs. I hope you will CHECK ‘EM OUT!!

Sorry I have nothing to share today. My sister moved today and I went to help her. Long story short, I wasn’t any help at all. But on the way home I ended up at Ben Franklin.  How does that happen?  I even had DH with me and I STILL stopped and shopped!  Not for long mind you but long enough to buy some gorgeous Basic Gray DP’s that I can’t wait to use. Coming soon….

Since this post has been delayed today until now, let’s get right to the point and make this short and saaweet… as in candy… BLOG CANDY!!

Here are the 3 sets that I have left.

A couple of days ago Splitcoaststampers added an upgrade to their blog site. It caused a little havoc. All of us who have a Splitcoaststampers blog lost all of our categories and blogrolls. We were told not to try and fix anything and not to post anything new until everything was corrected because any new post would be lost. (Like this one perhaps? Let’s call this post my test case. :)) Anyway a couple of my posts had to be deleted and uploaded again. The comments to those posts are still not visible, but Scott is working on it! Yay for Scott! In any case when all is better I will post today’s post. I promised some BLOG CANDY at the end of the week and that’s just what I have waiting in the wings. So come on back soon and get a chance to win one of the SU! 2008 SAB Sets that I will be giving away.

Happy Friday everyone! I LOVE Fridays!

Lori Craig has organized a Bible Verse Challenge over on Splitcoaststampers. “We’ll each create an on-going altered journal, rolodex card, scrapbook page, ATC or recipe card project… Each month we will choose a verse and get to stamping. We’ll add that piece to our collection.” Here is my first scripture card, the storage box and dividers.

Isn’t this a wonderful idea and challenge! I am just now joining in for the month of April. I plan to make this more than just a year long project.. perhaps a life long project. The scripture card hangs from the picture hooks in plain view all month. As I create the next month’s card, I will simply take the old one off from the hooks and file it under the month in which I created and memorized it. It will be easily available if I choose to refer back. Oh and another easy change each month could be the ribbon around the hangers. Thank you, Lori, for such a meaningful and awesome challenge!!

The finished box measures 5-3/4″ wide X 4-1/2″ tall X 3″ deep. Each scripture card measures 4″ X 5-1/4″. The center of the holes for the eyelets on the scripture card are 5/8″ from the top and 1″ from the side of the card.

The holes for the brads are placed 1/8″ from the top and 1-1/4″ from the side fold on the box.

These are just the regular inexpensive picture hangers that measure 7/8″ in length. The holes for the brads are placed 1/8″ from the top and 1-1/4″ from the side fold.

When my mother passed away 18 years ago, more than 15 years before I started stamping and making cards, one of the things which I chose to keep from her estate was a collection of antique cards that she displayed. I absolutely adored these cards. They always fascinated me. It’s funny how you come across certain things years later as I did with these cards today. I wonder why I didn’t pick up a clue from this fascination as to how I might enjoy the actual creative process of making cards myself. All things in there own time I suppose. So the cards I’m sharing today are three of my favorites. These are the real deal… authentic vintage!! Aren’t they beautiful!

On a side note: I have been having a random poster in the middle of the night whose posts I have enjoyed deleting. So I have enabled a moderation setting. Once you have had one comment approved, all comments after that should (hopefully) show up on the post without moderation. Thanks for understanding. 🙂

Beate’s inspiration piece this week is this darling sweater dress.

Here is the card I made for it.

I have been in Mexico for the last 10 days and wasn’t sure I would have time to play in her challenge this week. But I did find the time and I’m so glad! It was such fun after not stamping for what seemed like forever! The dress is paper pieced with SU!’s “Prints” designer paper in Blue Bayou. I also pieced the purse and ribbon for her hair in More Mustard. The flowers on the ribbon and in the center of the Primas were punched from the designer paper.

Stamps: She’s All That
Paper: Barely Banana, More Mustard, Blue Bayou, SU! “Prints” DP
Ink: Blue Bayou, More Mustard and Not Quite Navy Marker (faux stitching)
Accessories: Hole Punches, Primas, GG Ribbon, Button Brad, Stickles
