Here are 3 cards for 3 challenges.

blog257setwithwm.jpg

The first card is for the Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenge #44.  The challenge was to “make a card with just words (a sentiment/verse).. no stamped images.”

blog257ssic44cardwithwm.jpg

The second card was for a Clean and Simple Challenge on Splitcoaststampers CAS72.  There was a sketch to follow.  After I finished it, though, it didn’t look all that “clean”; so it didn’t end up on Splitcoast.  I do have a hard time with those CAS challenges.  smileyscratchingheadani.gif

blog257cas72cardwithwm.jpg

blog257cas72closeupwithwm.jpg

And finally the third card was for the weekly Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers SC285.  But it was completed a little late for the party and was never uploaded at Splitcoast, either.smileyshakingheadani.gif

blog257sc285cardwithwm.jpg

To emboss the punched corner piece, I first taped it to the embossing folder with removable double sided tape.  This prevented the small corner piece from shifting or moving during embossing.

blog257cornerwithwm.jpg

The sweet little bird image was colored with Copics and then cut out and popped up for some added dimension.

blog257sc285closeupwithwm.jpg

All 3 cards use Inchies, Inchie+ or Twinchies.  I keep learning more about Inchies.  Lisa Lee has written a wonderful and helpful post on her blog all in an inch that helps one tell the difference between the front and back of an Inchie.  She also shows why it makes a difference.

It’s the weekend!  Hope everyone has a great one.smileyflowerani.gif

Happy Crafting!

Even though my own dear father passed away over 25 years ago, there are still lots of fathers in my life.  And I had lots of fun this past week making them all cards for Father’s Day.

This first card is for my father-in-law.

blog255billcardwithwm.jpg

After coloring the buck image with a marker, I took a rag and dabbed a bit of the ink off here and there.  Thought this might give the image a furry look.

blog255billcardcloseupwithwm.jpg

Hm-m-m, not sure what I think about it.  Maybe it’s just a matter of a little more practice to get the desired look?

The next two cards are for my hubby, one from me and one from our 18 year old son.

1blog255stevecardwithwm.jpg

1blog255stevefromzachcardwithwm.jpg

This is such a funny stamp, and I thought it was perfect for a Father’s Day card.

1blog255stevefromzachcardcloseupwithwm.jpg

The last two cards are for my married sons who have, between the two of them, blessed me with three beautiful granddaughters.

Gary doesn’t think a family is complete without a dog.  This one is for him.

1blog255garycardwithwm.jpg

And this one is for Jeff who trailered away my motorcycles awhile back.  I thought he would get a kick out of this little scene.

blog255jeffcardwithwm.jpg

When stamping the sentiment on the card, the word “son” was not as straight as I wanted it.  So, I made a little banner and adhered it over the original word.  The banner is raised slightly in the center with an adhesive foam dot.  I actually like it better.  So fun when that happens!

blog255jeffcardcloseupwithwm.jpg

Wishing ALL the dads out there a happy Father’s Day tomorrow!

Oh I am so under the wire on this one!  Verve started a new challenge last month called Ready, Set, Stamp where you are to use a specific stamp set.  This month’s challenge is to use “Up, Up and Away”.  I couldn’t resist playing along even though I just recently saw the challenge.

The deadline for submission is in less than 1 hour!  Ack!!smileydogrunani.gif

The larger tree and the sentiment are from other Verve stamp sets.  The balloons have been paper pieced with Basic Grey’s “Cappella” designer paper.

Jun 092010

It’s here… the time that parents dread but in some ways look forward to at the same time.  My husband and I are becoming “empty nesters.”  Our first son was born 31 years ago today; our fourth and youngest son, Zach, is now graduating from high school.  He has been such a great kid.  We will miss him as he heads off to college in a couple of months.  This card is for him.

blog253cardwithwm.jpg

This is such a beautiful set from Our Daily Bread Designs called, “As You Graduate”.

blog253closeupwithwm.jpg

The alphabet charms were given to me by a very dear friend who helped nurse me back to health after my surgery last month.  Thank you so much, Janice!   The charms are mounted on a Twinchie.  (If you are interested, you can check out how I got an oval shape from a Twinchie in my latest CLASSroom post.)

I have just discovered two of my favorite things combined into one challenge.. a fun sketch and Inchies!!  Woohoo!  The challenge is over on the Inchie INKlings blog and I had to play along as soon as I saw it.  Here is my card for Inchie Card Sketch #7.

blog252inchiesketch_7cardwithwm.jpg

blog252inchiesketch_7cardcloseupwithwm.jpg

And for even more fun, I made another card to make a set.  It’s a different sketch and uses a Twinchie.

I’ve wondered lately what it is about these little Inchies that have so captured me, and I have decided it is my mom’s fault.  My mom was a very talented interior decorator.  Not only did she have a beautiful home, but she also had a beautiful miniature home.  She LOVED miniatures.  When she passed away there were plenty of miniature rooms for my sisters and I to inherit…  I chose the parlor.

You can see the scale here with the little Bible and glasses from the red velvet footstool now laying on the Inchie card.

blog252miniaturebiblewithwm.jpg

So you see, this love for the tiny world is not my fault!  I simply have no control over it!  lol

Hope everyone has a wonderful creative weekend.
