A One Sheet Wonder (OSW) is when a single piece of designer paper (dp) is used for several cards/projects with no or very very little waste left over.  After playing in Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge a couple of weeks ago using a 3″ x 4″ piece of dp, I decided to divide the entire 12″ x 12″ double sided sheet of dp into 3″ x 4″ pieces.  That gave enough pieces to create as many as 12 cards all with a healthy helping of precious patterned goodness!

3 sketches were created all using a 3″ x 4″ sized piece of dp.  Today’s Color Challenge at Splitcoast was to use a blue, a lighter blue and a light green on a card or project.  One side of this particular dp already had the two blues.  By sponging Certainly Celery around the edges, punching a couple of light green butterflies and adding some light green ribbon, the color challenge was met.

I love designer paper SO much. So when using it, I like to challenge myself to create as little waste as possible.  Planning ahead really helps.  Hope maybe these sketches can help you, too, to use every inch of paper for something beautiful.

Happy Crafting!

Birds.  I love bird stamps, bird papers, bird everything.  So when I saw this and this colorful feathered hair clip on Ruche, the Splitcoaststampers inspiration website this week, I couldn’t resist using my new Nature Walk set from SU.  The card uses  several stamps to make a collage with the large bird image as the star.

Lots of texture and dimension to this card as distressing and different embossing folders and die cuts were used.  The look was inspired by the old wood and distressed/vintage items in the photo with the feathered hair clips.

There was some stamping and distressing done for the inside of the card as well.

Being in a bird frame of mind I made a second card.  As many stamps that were used on the first card, in contrast, the second card uses no stamped images.  Instead some gorgeous Conservatory designer paper is used both on the front and on the inside.

Another collage on the inside, but this time it was made with patterned papers instead of stamped images as on the first card.

Little cutouts from the Conservatory ATC Tray Kit were added as an embellishment in the collage as well as an accent on the front of the card.

I think this second card will be for my oldest son’s birthday.  Hope it’s manly enough.  He, too, loves birds and has studied their calls and cultures.  Its fun to be outside with him and listen to the bird’s music.  He can tell me which bird is singing which song, a little about that particular bird’s characteristics and can even make some of the calls himself!  I think he’ll like this beautiful paper.  Maybe he’ll be able to sing some of these birds’ calls to me… awesome!

This week I am the Guest Designer on Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple (CAS) Challenge!  The challenge is a sketch, and I made 3 cards using it.

The Father’s Day card is a 1-layer card and was very CAS to make.

The daisy card, although having 5 layers, was still a very quick and simple card to make thanks to some Nestabilities and punches.

The button was mounted with a black foam tape circle so that the holes would look more pronounced.

The final card uses one of my new Waltzing Mouse sets.  I have been wanting needing some of these wonderful stamps for quite some time and was excited when they arrived this past week!

This was the most difficult card to make of the 3 only because it involved embossing.  The embossing powder always seems to make such a mess for me, so I don’t use it that often.  But, LOVE the results!  And I needed to stamp and emboss the image twice.. once for the main image and once for the punched butterfly.

It was SO fun to know in advance what the CAS challenge would be!  Thanks for giving me the opportunity this week to be a Guest Designer.

Happy Crafting!

Dyslexia.  It’s the only excuse I have for always twisting and turning a sketch.  Here’s today’s sketch at Splitcoaststampers and then how I saw it.

And here’s my card:

Seriously.. what’s up with that? This is truly how I saw the sketch until I was finished.  That’s when I finally realized what I had done.. again.  Well fortunately it is “allowed” to flip the sketches, so guess it’s all good.  After all having fun is the real goal, right?

Not saying I ever have but, wonder if I could use this as an excuse for going 53 mph in a 35?

Just a quick post today as I have family visiting this weekend.  I played along in My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #10.  Here’s the card..

And peeking inside to see the rest of the sentiment..

Here is the sketch.. Which I turned 90 degrees..

I absolutely adore these precious “Pure Innocence” images and was happy to have finally inked one of them up.

Sending prayers to all of those who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami.  There are several ways to help with donations.  Hope that everyone will consider that, if they can.

One of my sister’s had a birthday recently.  When she taught school she had some pet mice in her classroom that she would occasionally bring home over the weekend.  So when I saw this darling set, “Mouse Party” from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps, it reminded me of her.. so sweet.. the perfect set to make her a card!

I made the eyelet lace using SU’s Eyelet Border Punch on a strip of paper.  It was then run through a Paper Crimper to simulate the look of gathers.

After crimping, it was pinched in a few random spots to give the appearance of even more gathering.

A little love was given to the inside of the card with ribbon and designer paper, and for the finishing touch the envelope got some attention as well.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Hope your week is filled with.. Happy Crafting!

There is a Clean and Simple (CAS) Guest Design Team Challenge right now over on Splitcoaststampers.  Here is the card that I made for it.

After stamping both the guitar image and the sentiment, the image panel was embossed using Star Nestabilities.

(Tip: It’s almost always best to stamp the images first before embossing over them.)

Another sentiment was stamped on the inside, too.  Fun!

This next card is one that I made for one of two brother-in-law birthdays this month.  LOVE this plaid edger punch!

The grasses are stamped directly onto the designer paper on the card front.  The second half of the sentiment is likewise stamped directly onto the designer paper on the inside of the card.

Hope everyone has a great start to their week.  Thanks so much for dropping by.

Happy Crafting!

Today’s Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers uses the most delightful and charming website for it’s inspiration pieces.  It’s full of sweet little floral bouquets with the sweetest of all flowers.. the pink rose.  I’ve been wanting to play with my new SU set “Baby Blossoms”, and this was the perfect time to do so.

The fence is Martha Stewart’s deep edger punch “Iron Fence” from the Halloween collection.  By trimming off the bat wings this fence becomes an any season punch!  And it was super easy to do.

The rose is stamped on an Inchie which is popped up on foam tape.

I also played in the CAS Spring DT Challenge last weekend.  It was such a yummy color challenge.

Thanks for dropping by and spending some time with me today.  Hope you have a great weekend!

The challenge over at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ this week is to use at least 3 buttons on a card or project.

The SU “Pattern Pieces” stamp seemed to go along with this sew-y challenge.  It was stamped on regular gift wrap tissue paper which had been sponged with SU’s River Rock ink to give it that “real” pattern piece look and feel.

This card is very similar to a card found here I made a couple of years ago using a similar stamp from Inque Boutique’s “Victorian Dressmaker” set.   I’m not a fan of sewing, so not sure what it is about these sewing images that I just can’t seem to resist! But, I sure do like ’em.

Thanks so much for dropping by today and…
