Isn’t this a great sentiment!  It’s the perfect prescription for any golf lover.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

After coloring the image I was adding a few gray tones to those stylin’ shorts and a big blob of gray ink dripped out of my Copic onto the picture.  This is the second time I have had this happen after refilling one of my markers.  Obviously I’m putting in too much ink!  Hopefully next time I’ll get it right.  lol  Well a trusty little button brad came to the rescue and covered up most of it.

I love sponging.  There is just something about pulling off the masking paper to reveal this sharp line between the white cardstock and the sponged on ink that makes me giddy every time!  If it wasn’t for the fact that my fingers end up with as much ink on them as the cardstock, I would do it much more often.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The sentiment is an Easter hymn called “He Is Risen.”  It has been computer generated.

Isn’t this a fun sentiment to go along with this cute robot!  It’s perfect for those computer whiz guys in our lives.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The robot reminded me of the tin man from the Wizard of Oz.  So, I made sure he had a heart.

Have been playing with this floral image from SU’s “Bloom With Hope” set.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

What a fun image to color!  I tried coloring it with pastels, but for whatever reason the more intense colors looked better to me.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

I added some black marker to this second flower to give it even more contrast.

LOVE this tulip image.  So happy I finally got to color it!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

There are some fun challenges this week that I had in mind while making the card:

Splitcoaststampers Ways to Use It Challenge: “Lucky Charms – I have always loved pearls.  Did you know that black pearls are thought to offer the power of love and protection and luck and to give wisdom.  What’s not to love about that!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: “B is for…” – B is for a tulip BOUQUET, a sweet little stamped BOW and an embossed tulip BORDER.

Papertake Weekly Challenge: “Mum’s The Word” – Since this Sunday is Mothering Sunday in the UK, the challenge is to make a card for your mother.  My mom passed away over 25 years ago, but I still have the most wonderful mother-in-law anyone could ask for..  I loved the idea of using this sentiment for her mother’s day card this year.

Sometimes my fingers get really inky, like for instance, while making this background.  But it was totally worth it because sponging is such fun, and I love the effect!!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

One of the fern stems was stamped on acetate and then pressed onto the cardstock so it would bend the other way.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The solid butterfly was made by using the negative cutout of the top butterfly as a template and then fussy cutting.  By using the inside of the cutout rather than tracing around the actually butterfly, the solid/bottom piece is slightly smaller than the top.  I think it just looks better not to have any overhang of the bottom butterfly.

*Insert random discovery here*Smiley.GnomeAni
Yeah this is completely random, but when I was playing around with the SU Summer Sun (retired?) cardstock, I noticed that the Copic Y35 marker is a perfect match.  Just an fyi.  (Oh and the Copic is colored on PTI Select White cardstock.)

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a one-layer design with a sweet little line of embossing across the top of the card for some texture.  Its so tempting to add more embellishments, but I’m going to keep this one clean and simple and very very mail-able!  Smiley.Yes1Ani

So is this bird cute or what!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The grass was added and the little bird was colored with Copics.  A black Copic was also used to color the edges of the image circle and sentiment strip.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The miniature doily was made using a Spellbinder’s die and cutting it from a larger doily.  LOVE how it turned out!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Here is the card with some pearls added across the top of the patterned paper.  Too much?  Do they distract from the cute little image or just add to all the fun dots and circles that abound?  What do you think?
