Love this “Trendy Trees” image from Memory Box. Both the Spring and Autumn cards today use this fun stamp and are colored with Copic Markers.

The Spring card also uses the “Trendy Trees” coordinating die… twice! Got a forest goin’ on here!

A white gel pen accents the leaves and branches.

Here is the Autumn card.

The leaves and branches are highlighted with the gel pen here as well. It really pops them. Love this effect.

Three Guy Cards

With three brothers-in-law whose birthdays fall very close together, I will often make their birthday cards at the same time and with a similar design.

To begin creating these scenes, I sponged the blue ink lightly at the top of the cardstock. Then, to create the mountains, a large piece of masking paper was torn and placed across the top of the cardstock with the torn edge facing down. The blue ink was then sponged on again at the torn edge. The masking paper was then moved down and slightly to the left or right. Then the sand colored mountains were sponged. The process was repeated for the front brown mountains.

If you want to have a lake, a straight edge piece of masking paper should be placed at the bottom part of the cardstock covering the area where you want the lake to be. This should be placed the entire time you are sponging the mountains. When you have completed the mountains, turn the straight edge of the masking paper 180 degrees so that it covers the mountains and sponge in the lake.

The trees are then stamped. Some ink distressing can be added by sponging a dark shadow border.

It always feels so good to get these masculine cards completed!

My new Garden Grace set from PTI just arrived! Couldn’t wait to play with it!

The pink flowers were heat embossed. They then “resisted” the ink of the clock where it was stamped over them. This makes the clock appear to be behind the flowers without having to mask them. This technique is known as “emboss resist”.

Texture was added by the heat embossed flowers, the dry embossed stitching folder at the top and bottom of the card and the punched out window with inset. Since the inset is adhered to the inside of the card, no additional layers, bulk or thickness was added to the “one-layer” card.

A good friend’s daughter is expecting twin boys… Just 10 weeks to go!

The onesies were colored with Copics and accented by drawing diagonal lines to create a diamond pattern with a White Gel Pen.

The little stars were stamped and then fussy cut. A black Copic marker was used to color around the raw edge of the stars so that no white paper would be visible. I think this helps to pop the star and give it a more finished look.

My great-niece was born on my mother’s birthday. Mom never knew that she would have a great granddaughter share her day, but Rose shares at least one of her great grandmother’s traits. She LOVES to craft!
