blog132bic33piece.jpgMartha Stewart sets the stage for Beate’s Inspiration Challenge #33 this week.  Aren’t these colors just yummy!  I used three different Flourishes sets on my card.  The leaves are from Flourishes “Autumn Flourishes” set.  The table and bowl are from “Summer on the Patio”, and the sentiment is from “Figs and Pomegranates”.  The ribbon is May Arts sheer 1″ width in chocolate.

blog132bic33withwm.jpg

The leaves were stamped first using Garden Green and VersaMark on Barely Banana card stock.  A VersaMarker was used to draw on the veins before clear embossing all the leaves.  I then sponged and sponged using several different colors ranging from yellows to black at the bottom.  The center was left a brighter yellow for the table and bowl.  The bowl was stamped, clear embossed and masked.  Then the table was stamped and clear embossed.  The lemons were colored with SU! markers.  A white gel pen was used for highlights.  The sentiment was also embossed and popped up on dimensionals.

Beate’s inspiration piece this week is a child’s room.  The thing that caught my eye was the lions, monkeys and other animals.  They

blog128bic32kids_baby_simplycolorful_l.jpg

brought Africa to mind.  Now this may be because my son’s girlfriend just returned from spending a month in Africa.. Madagascar to be exact.  And did she ever have a unique and wonderful surprise for me!  She brought me stamps.  Not just any stamps but handmade stamps.  She said that this vendor in Antananarivo had a book from which you could choose a design.  He would then proceed to carve that design into the rubber.  She picked out a couple of chameleon images.  I made my card for Beate’s challenge today with one of these awesome stamps.

blog128bic32withwm.jpg

The raffia on the card is also something that she brought me.  It is so fresh that it is still green.

These stamps are such a special gift.  I just LOVE them!

Today is one of my sons’ birthday.  Gosh I think he is turning a quarter of a century today or 2-1/2 decades.  How can this be?  If he is that old then it makes me REALLY old especially considering that he is my 3rd son!  lol  I love the sentiment used on the inspiration challenge.  So here it is again.. and again.. and again.

Here is the card that I made for it.

As soon as I saw those darling felt birds, I knew I would be using my felt flowers from SU!’s Flower Fusion.  The leaves were created by cutting off some of the petals on one of the green flowers.  The sweet little bird in the Fun and Fast Notes set seemed like the perfect place to start, too.  And I tried to stay close to the colors in the inspiration piece.

Hope you can play along.  This was a FUN one!  Check out the other Inspiration Team’s creations:

I love this new Basic Gray “Urban Prairie” designer paper and matching brads.  I played with my SU! scalloped border and circle punches.  The scallops are clipped to give the circle a little more dimension.  The card is a 4-1/4″ square.

Such beautiful colors in Beate’s inspiration piece today.  And I totally went with them.

blog115bic27withwm.jpg

All images are from Flourishes.  The ornament is from their newly released set All That Glitters.  The sentiment is also from a newly released set Sleigh Ride.  The background is Damask.  The sentiment and background were stamped with craft inks.  The ornament was stamped with Bravo Burgundy classic ink and VersaMark on watercolor paper and then clear embossed.  It was then watercolored with Regal Rose and Bravo Burgundy reinkers.  A Bravo Burgundy marker was used to outline the flourishes on the ornament.

What a cool piece Beate has for her inspiration challenge today.

blog111bic26.jpg

For me this one was all about the windows, the stripes and the polka dots.  My card is made with all Stampin’ Up products.  It was the first that I have played with my new stamp set “Window Dressing” and Designer Series Paper “Maine Blueberry”.   Yeah!  Here is my card.

blog111bic26withwm.jpg

I first stamped the window image on Whisper White card stock.  Next I stamped the vases.  I then masked the window and vases and sponged in the blue and green to suggest sky and grass.  While masked I also stamped in part of the tree image from the “Nature Silhouettes” set.  I unmasked the image, colored it with SU! markers, cut it out, mounted it on Night of Navy card stock and then cut it out again leaving a Night of Navy border.  The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White card stock.  It was then die cut into a circle.  A slightly larger circle was cut with the Night of Navy card stock and adhered to the back of the sentiment circle.  The window image was then adhered to the front of the sentiment circle.  Then the entire main image was popped up on dimensionals on the designer paper covered card base.

Beate’s Inspiration Challenge today was the perfect chance to use my new SU! set called “Eastern Influences”.  Here is the inspiration photo.

1blog109bic25.jpg

And here is the card I made that was inspired by it.

blog109withwm.jpg

The image was made by coloring directly onto the rubber with markers and then spritzing with water before stamping.  After stamping the flowers were colored in with a Pretty in Pink marker.

I wish that SU! made brown brads.  With each new catalog I search to see if they have finally decided to carry them.   But they still don’t, so I make my own.

blog109bradstuff.jpg blog109bradcloseup.jpg

Using the antique brass brads and a pair of tweezers, I push them into my Chocolate Chip Craft stampin’ spot.  Then I quickly and lightly spray them with Clear Finish.  I push them into the stampin’ spot again then use my heat gun to dry them.  I love the matte finish it creates.  But I’m still hoping that the next new catty will be the one!

See what the other challenge team members have created today using this beautiful photo as their inspiration.

Had some fun today as I played along in Beate’s Inspiration Challenge.  Here is the inspiration piece this week.

blog107bic24simringlassware.jpg(Click to enlarge photo.)

And here is the card that I made for it.  I thought the Crystal Clear Card Stock would work well to give the feel of glass as there is so much of it in the inspiration piece.

blog107withwm.jpg

All of the stamping is done on the front of the clear card stock.  The white insert is completely blank.  It is attached with adhesive to the clear card stock only under the designer paper panel at the top of the card.

There are so many possibilities and different ways to go with this inspiration piece.  I’m excited to see how the other design team members interpreted it.  You can check out their creations with me on their blogs here.

blog102bic23piece.jpgYay!! Yesterday I got to play with my new Stampin’ Up! toys. What fun I had. *big grin*  I was able to make three cards all of which are SUO (Stampin’ Up! Only).

The first card was made for  Beate’s Inspiration Challenge #23.  This room was the inspiration piece.  And here is the card that I made for it.

blog102bic23withwm.jpg

I used two of my new stamp sets, “Nature Silhouettes” and “On Your Birthday”.  I also used some of SU!’s new Designer Series Paper “Manchester”.

Now I couldn’t wait to use my new “Alpine” Ribbon Originals.  Oh don’t you just love this chocolate chip felt ribbon complete with stitching.
blog102christmaswithwm.jpg

I combined it with the new 1″ wide chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon.  Two more new sets, “A Flower for All Seasons” and the beautiful Merry Christmas sentiment from “A Cardinal Christmas” were used.  “Holiday Treasures” is some of the most beautiful designer paper… EVER!!  Yup I used some of that, too.

The third card today uses the new set “Starring You”.

blog102birthdaywithwm.jpg

This card is made with the new In Color “Baja Breeze”.  Wow I love this color!  The designer paper is the new “Patterns”.  The new 1-3/4″ circle punch was used for the black circle behind the main image/sentiment.  The stars were stamped with SU!’s “Classic Backgrounds”.  Although this is not a new set, it was the first time I have used it.  To make the little star embellishment I stamped a single star on some whisper white card stock.  Then I took the small star punch, centered the stamped star and punched it out.

Oh yay!  It was a fun day!!  Hope you get some stamping time in, too!!
