The end of August… Growing up I always had such mixed feelings about this time of the year.  The warm and wonderful summer was almost over, and it was back to school and studying and going to bed at a much earlier hour.  But it was also exciting.  New classes and classmates, new teachers, and new adventures all awaited just days away.

I love this image for those feelings of long (long) ago that it invokes.

It’s always easy to add some fun by adding a couple of strips of designer paper to the inside of the card as well.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Just love it when you do that!  Oh and if you haven’t checked out my current Sketch Challenge, you can see it HERE!  There are still a couple of days left to play along.  Happy Crafting!

This card is for a couple of different challenges.  The first is the Operation Write Home’s challenge found HERE, and the second is the Stampin’ Sisters in Christ’s Challenge found HERE.

Weight and thickness matter when making cards for OWH so by making the red gingham a frame, you get the look of layers without actually having them.

Because of the dark cardstock, some white was added for writing.  A little dp brightens up the inside as well.

If you haven’t seen my Sketch Challenge for this month, check it out HERE.  There is still a week left to play and some blog candy.. a brand new 6 x 6 pad of designer paper is looking for a new home!

Happy Crafting!

Aug 202012

I LOVE paper, and my card today uses Basic Grey’s “What’s Up” designer paper rather than stamped images to create a fun little scene.

The only stamping is the sentiment.

I remember when I used to stamp everything.  I was so intimidated by patterned paper.  Boy has that changed.

If you haven’t seen my Sketch Challenge for this month, check it out HERE.  And there is even some blog candy.. a brand new 6 x 6 pad of designer paper!  Who would have guessed.  hehe

Yup.  It’s the 15th, and I have another Rainy Day Sketch!

Here’s my take on it.

Love this peaceful sweet kitty.

And I also love this sweet “Pretty Party” designer paper from Crate Paper that was used on the card as well.

A brand new 6 x 6 pad of it is my blog candy this month for the winner who will be drawn from those participating in the sketch challenge!

To play along, leave a link to your creation in the comments section.  A winner will be selected on September 1st giving you more than 2 weeks to play.  Oh and please make sure that the link you leave goes to the specific card you are entering and not to your blog or gallery in general.  Hope you can find some time to play!

Edited:  This Sketch Challenge is now closed.

Recently I had a box of chipboard butterflies that I gave to my twin granddaughters.  However the box had come with an uneven number of butterflies.  Figuring that that could be a problem when they went to divide them, I took one out and used it myself!  lol  Problem solved.

You know those little ribbons that come sewn into the shoulder seams on the inside of women’s tops?  Well mine always get cut off and put into the ribbon drawer.  Used some of them here on this card.

Thanks so much from dropping by today.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Made this card for yesterday’s Clean & Simple Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  It was a color challenge using blue and white.  (Some people think of aqua/teal as a green.  I’ve always thought of it as a blue.)

As I was going to upload the card, I noticed the challenge said, “DARK blue.”  Oops.  One can get away with claiming aqua to be blue… but “dark” blue?  Nope.  However, I enjoyed this CAS sketch so much that I decided to use it for some needed Christmas cards.  I loved that 3 different coordinating designer papers were used on each card.

I have punched enough of the scalloped squares to make a dozen Christmas cards.  Quick.. easy.. fun.. what could be more perfect?  (Well I guess I could have read the challenge details a little more closely.  There is that.  LOL)
