This card is for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge #269.

While browsing through the inspiration website, I ran across a bedding set called “Hampstead Heath”.  Well look no further!  Of course I was going to use this darling ensemble as my inspiration.  Back in the 90’s for 5 years I lived in Hampstead (London, England) just a block from the Hampstead Heath.  On more than one occasion we visited the Heath to enjoy some of it’s many activities.  Just for old times’ sake, here are a few pictures of my days at the Heath.

Playing some catch with my 3 boys.  (The 4th son is on the way.  When I think about it now, not sure if playing catch with these guys while pregnant was such a good idea!)

On Guy Fawkes Day we would go to Parliament Hill (part of the Heath) and have a picnic and play lots of fun games with friends.

Son, Jeff, playing a little cricket.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  Enjoy every day that you are given.  Time truly flies by…

Edited:  Ok.. Guy Fawkes Day is in November.  These last two photos were obviously not taken in November.  So this get together with friends was for something else.  And so many years later.. I have no idea what.  I had the photos mislabeled.  🙁  Maybe my DH (who still has his mind intact) can help me figure it out!  lol

Finally got a chance to play with this new set from SU called “Filled with Love”.  And what’s better at Valentine’s than lace and scallops and hearts and roses.  (OK.. chocolate.. but.. just sayin’.)

Often I will purchase primas or ribbons (in this case this darling organza rose ribbon) in a white or cream color.  That way I can use my Copics to make them whatever color I want.

The roses were cut apart and then attached individually to the cardstock.

With the roses and lots of foam tape to pop up the hearts and circles, some fun dimension was added.

The second card uses the beautiful deep edger punch from Martha Stewart called, “Lattice Heart”.

Again, dimension was added by popping up the sentiment panel with foam tape.

I’ve been out of town quite a bit lately, and it was fun to be back in my craft room.

Happy Crafting!

Here’s a little candy to celebrate my upcoming birthday!

A couple of year’s ago my sons gave me some crafting tools for Christmas.  Among those tools was an EK Success Fastenater, but I hadn’t used it in awhile.  Then when I saw another at my local craft store, it reminded me of this fun tool and the unique look it offers to papercrafters.  I decided to get one to share and to pull mine out and make a couple of more cards with it.

The brand new stamp set is such a wonderful Valentines set.  The sentiments can be used together or individually since they do not overlap each other in the design.  I LOVE that!  Plus there are so many sentiments to choose from.

The cute little birds and hearts follow suit.  The image stamp is long enough to reach the full 5-1/2″ across a standard card size.  Or like the sentiments, you can also use some of the individual little birds or hearts by themselves.

All you need to do to enter the drawing for the Fastenater and stamp set is leave a comment below on this blog post.  A winner will be chosen at midnight PST on Saturday, January 22nd .  Yup, that’s my…

hehe

Katelyn, my youngest granddaughter, celebrated her 2nd birthday yesterday.  This is the card I made for her.

Lucky for me, I got to give it to her in person a few days early.  My whole family.. all 4 of my sons and their families met in Las Vegas and brought in the new year together.  It was a wonderful way to start 2011!

The little bear’s dress has been paper pieced.  I used Copics to color her and to shade parts of the paper pieced dress.  I also used a white gel pen on the dress to dot and accent different areas and fill in the collar and ribbons.

The second card was for my sister-in-law, Patty, whose birthday was a couple of month’s ago.

I used some Flower Soft on the sunflower’s center and then dabbed it with a Copic Marker which was a shade or two darker than the original color of the Flower Soft.  This created an interesting look of depth and shadows.

This striped designer paper from the Webster’s Pages “Wonderfall” collection was close but not the exact colors needed to match the sunflower.  So, I colored parts of the designer paper with the same Copics that were used to color the sunflower image.  Now it matched!  lol

And here are the Copics used for Patty’s card:

My next post will be offering some blog candy with a fun Valentine’s stamp set.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Jan 052011

Over the holidays there have been lots of celebrations.  And one of the celebrations that I attended, although not associated with the holidays in general, does seem to happen more during this time of year than any other (with the possible exception of the month of June).   So what sort of celebration is it?  A wedding!

The image and sentiment are stamped directly onto the pink pinstripe designer paper.  And as usual I used the invitation for inspiration.

Now speaking of celebrations… I’m going to have some blog candy coming up soon to celebrate my birthday.  hehe  I love doing that!  So check back soon.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.
