This past Friday my 5th granddaughter was born.

I’ve made a butterfly mobile for her nursery that I will share over at the CLASSroom soon, but I also wanted to make a card for each of her two big sisters.  Kira Rain is such a lucky little girl to have them to love her and help her along her journey.  I wasn’t sure just what sort of card to make for them until I saw the Clean and Simple Challenge on Splitcoaststampers today.  The theme of “love” was perfect.

When I look at the sweet faces of my granddaughters, I am so grateful to all those who have given so much to keep freedom and hope alive for them and for me.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.  God bless you this Memorial Day.

The BasicGrey designer paper “Little Black Dress” is such beautiful paper.  So with a recent purchase of coordinating metal flowers, I couldn’t wait to make a card using both.

Problem was though I didn’t like it, and decided that, at least in this case, less was more.  Using only one of the flowers and cutting the designer paper panel almost in half, the card got a new design.

Better?  Which one is your favorite?

Oh and by the way if you haven’t already seen it, I have a sketch challenge going on until June 1st!  CHECK IT OUT!! Would love to have you join in and give it a try.

Happy Crafting!

Made today’s card with a couple of challenges in mind.

The sketch is Waltzingmouse’s Sketch Challenge this week.  After creating the sketch I realized that I had sorta reversed the design.  Guess my dyslexia kicked in a bit.

The second challenge, over at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ, is to include an animal/bird on your card or project.

Speaking of challenges, I have MY OWN LITTLE SKETCH CHALLENGE going on which also offers some candy.  Would love to have you join in and give it a try.

Happy Crafting!

I LOVE sketches, and they have always been my favorite kind of challenge.  So today I have exactly that.. a sketch challenge, and it comes complete with a little candy!  Provided there are some entries, a winner will be selected on June 1st giving you a little over 2 weeks to play.  So let’s get started and see how it goes.  Here is the sketch.

Here is my take on the sketch.

Isn’t this “Tropical Travelogue” Graphic 45 designer paper gorgeous!  I love the rich colors.  A brand new pad of this 8″ x 8″ goodness along with some of Prima’s raffia flowers is the candy for today’s challenge.

If you do decide to play along, leave a link to your creation in the comments section.  Oh and please make sure that the link you leave goes to the specific card you are entering and not to your blog or gallery in general.  Hope you find some time to play!

HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Edited on Friday, June 1st:  The Sketch Challenge is now closed.  Congrats to Carol L!  You won this gorgeous Graphic45 goodness.

There is no doubt in my mind that I have the kindest sweetest dearest mother-in-law on the planet!

She loves these warm and happy colors.  No surprise there.  They’re just like her.  I love you, Lottie!

I have two very wonderful daughters-in-law, too.  Jenna, mom to my beautiful twin granddaughters, is expecting another little sweetheart on May 25th!  They have a few favorite names selected.  I am on the “team Sophie” as my son calls it.  LOL  (Note:  Fortunately as I was placing the card in the envelope to mail, I noticed that the bottom two leaves were underside up.  I turned them over before mailing.  *phew*)

Kimberly is moving for Mother’s Day.  My son just bought his own dental practice in Tucson, so they are finishing up their move from Sierra Vista to the ‘big’ city.  I hope that she has as good a Mother’s Day as possible… moving with two little ones in tow is always a challenge.

Happy Mother’s Day, ladies!!

This week’s Clean and Simple challenge at Splitcoaststampers is to be inspired by the word “chic.”  Well I have another bridal shower coming up and this one will have a “kitchen” theme.  So fun!  The purple and black flourished panel was part of the invitation and just spoke “chic” to me.

The bride’s colors will make for such an elegant (and chic!) wedding.

Yup..  It’s Spring!  So many weddings coming up!  I just love it.

Happy Crafting!

It’s always fun to make a card for someone and to think of them while making it.  I love that.  And the whole time I was coloring and making these two cards I had a particular sister in mind for each one.

This first card was for Arlene. Thinking back on it now, though, I probably should have made her dress blue.  She loves blue, and it loves her!

This second card is for Merle who is a gardener extraordinaire.

She belongs to her local Garden Club, and her home/garden was included in their tour a couple of years ago!!  It really is beautiful.  She is my sibling that was born right before me.  I always claim that she took so much green thumb that there wasn’t any left for me!  I am a disaster in the garden.  (Of course, that may have more to do with patience than the color of my thumb. heheh)

I used the Spellbinders Labels Nestabilities dies for the image panel, but it wasn’t quite as long as I wanted.  So the solution was to cut it in half, pull the bottom down and cover the area in between with some cardstock and lace.  It makes the entire panel appear longer.  Woohoo!

Had so much fun coloring these images while thinking of my sisters.  Sure do love ’em.

Happy Crafting!

The Clean and Simple Challenge on Splitcoaststampers as well as this week’s Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenge gave me the inspiration I’ve been needing to get started on my Christmas cards.  Yeah!

The design was inspired by Heather Telford’s beautiful cards.  She even has a step by step tutorial.  Gotta love that!

Thanks for dropping by today.  Happy Crafting!
