It’s time for another Dirty Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  This month the required element, as this post’s title would suggest, is to use a bird or a bee image.  I chose this cute little owl from the Hero Arts “Birds and Branches” set.

Recently I’ve been having some fun making my own embossing templates/elements.  On this card, the smallest circle from the Standard Large Circle Nestabilities was used.  I die cut several of them using Ellen Hutson’s “Craft-a-Board”, placed them on the cardstock with the embossing mat and ran them through my embossing machine.

After lightly sponging to accent the embossing, I stamped one of the flowers from the “Birds and Branches” set onto the embossed cirlces.  The end result adds some fun dimension to the card.

Hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful Spring.

Happy Crafting!

It’s Springtime in the CLASSroom!

Come on over and see how I made these sweet little blossoms.  Hope to see you there!

Guys’ birthdays… ugh.  I know that many of us have that same reaction to the prospect of making a masculine card.  And for me the really frustrating part is that I struggle with it even knowing that most guys don’t care what the card looks like (at least if they are like my DH)! lol

Well here is what I came up with for my brother-in-laws’ birthdays this month.  I let Martha Stewart’s “Happy Birthday” punch do some of the work for me.

Rob lives outside of the city and has had/raised horses… well at least his wife has.  But I love this image and thought he might like it, too.

Tim is a geologist.  I thought a scene with a rock formation would be a good image for him.

In the end, I like the way these came out.  *Phew*  Hope the guys like ’em, too.

Happy Crafting!

March brings lots of birthdays in my family.  A sister, a daughter-in-law, a nephew and two brother-in-laws all have their big day.  When I saw the fun Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers, I decided to use it for my nephew’s card.

The main image panel is popped up on dimensionals.  Since the left side of the image is over a couple more layers of card stock than the right side, I used dimensionals of varying thickness.

This allows the image panel to sit level once it is adhered to the card base.

Last month was my niece’s birthday.  Here is the card that I made for her.

Again, when adhering the main image panel to the card base, I used varying thicknesses of dimensionals to allow the panel to sit level.

Hope that everyone’s March is starting out to be a happy one!
