Two more wedding cards today…  but these cards were made with some FREE designer paper that came in the mail.  And I’m sure the brides are going to love the papers I used for their wedding cards.  How can I be so sure about that?

Yup, I love to use the wedding invitations to make the wedding card.  It really is free designer paper and usually of a very high quality!  I even use the ribbons (or raffia in this case) if it comes along for free, too.  Plus it makes some of the original decisions to making a card much easier such as the feel or style and color scheme.

So next time, don’t toss those invites.  Use ’em!!

Hope you’ll join me in the CLASSroom today and see what I’ve been up to!  Karen Lockhart has released several new and wonderful images this week.  I decided to play with the new butterfly and have made a couple of cards.  And, yes, I included lots of designer paper in my creations!  Happy Crafting!!

This One Sheet Wonder (OSW) I created let’s me cheat a little.  heheh  It allows me to use an entire sheet of 12X12 (for 6 cards); or if I can’t bear to part with the entire sheet, it allows me to use just half of it (12X6 for 3 cards).

For Father’s Day I needed several cards.  I had 2 full 12X12 sheets of designer paper with a masculine theme/feel that I thought looked good together even though they were not by the same manufacturer.  So I only had to use half of each sheet to make up a full 12X12 OSW.  Plus, since they were doubled sided, I had 4 different patterns to play with!  Is this clear as mud?  lol!

smileyprofessorani.gif

Maybe some pictures will help!  Here is the set I made.  There are 3 Father’s Day cards and 3 masculine birthday cards.

blog182cardswithwm.jpg

Here is the template and a picture of the cut papers.  Laying the pieces out like this prior to making the cards helped me make sure that each pattern was used 3 times.

(Click on the images to enlarge.)

This template also allows for a strip of coordinating paper for the inside of each card.

A couple of weeks ago my oldest son turned 30.  How is this possible!?!  Here is the card I made for him.

blog180bdcardwithwm.jpg

When I saw this sign language alphabet from Lost Coast Designs I had to get it just for this card.  He is always signing.. has always had an interest in signing and took American Sign Language (ASL) in college.  You should see how fast he can spell his name.  I’m still forming the second letter and he is long finished!

blog180bdcloseupwithwm.jpg

He came home on his birthday, and I made him a cake.  But I put it on a huge plate.  Well when it was time for him to take it back to his house, it wouldn’t fit in the cake carrier.  So we put it in the wok!  Guess that makes it a cakewok!  *groan*  (His joke not mine btw!)

blog180cakewok.jpg

Now anytime I talk about family I have to include at least a picture or two of my garden… grandma’s garden that is.  Here is this grandma’s latest little flower… pure sweetness.

blog180katelynapril093months.jpg

Here is another cute little picture of her wearing her daddy’s (my second son’s) hat.  And below that is a picture of her daddy without his hat!  lol

blog180katelynjune09daddyshat.jpg

blog180jeff.jpg

Jeff… errrr Lieutenant Roberts… is a dentist with the Army.  But he still gets to go through the drills and play with guns.  This makes him very happy.  When my oldest son saw this picture he said, “I would be very nervous… if I were a cavity!”  Brothers.  They couldn’t be more different in their interests, lifestyle, political views, etc..  But I love ’em both!

Hope your day is filled with lots of sweet things, too.

Happy Crafting!

On the 20th of each month, Splitcoaststampers has a challenge for the Dirty Girls past and present.  This month the challenge was to make a card or project that “screams school’s out for the summer… like the beach, camping, the mountains, bbqing, you name it, whatever screams summer to you is fair game.”  Here is my card.

blog181dcout609cardwithwm.jpg

Well I can’t think of much that “screams summer” more to me than July 4th!  The white lacy scalloped edging was made with the Martha Stewart “Picket Fence” edger punch.  The challenge also had a requirement to include mini brads.  Here are some little mini screw brads.  Aren’t they cute!  lol  I’ve backed them with some blue card stock to help them show up better.

blog181dcout609minibradswithwm.jpg

So as to not leave anything to chance, the little sentiment tag has been taped at the top and then raised up towards the bottom with a dimensional.  It looks like it is free to move, but it’s not.  There is no chance for it to get turned or twisted.

blog181dcout609tagwithwm.JPG

I love to paper pierce and need to do it more.  Here I have used two different sizes of piercers to get a little different look.  The Ornare piercing tool and template (red) is a very small piercer with tiny holes that are quite close together.  The other piercer and SU! template make much larger holes.

blog181dcout609piercingtoolswithwm.jpg

Isn’t this a fun look!

blog181dcout609piercingwithwm.jpg

Hope your summer is starting out with lots of sun and fun.

Happy Crafting!

It’s June and it’s that time of year.  For the last few weeks the wedding invitations have been arriving, and I love it!  Wedding cards are so much fun to make.

blog178weddingsetallwithwm.JPG

To continue my personal commitment to use some of my ever growing designer paper supply, this set of cards was made using pieces from seven different sheets of the Making Memories “I Do” designer paper pack.  Each card has a strip of coordinating paper on the inside as well.

This first card was colored with Copic Markers.

blog178card1withwm.JPG

The main image panel is popped up on dimensionals.  The sentiment on the main image panel is also popped up.

blog178card1closeupwithwm.JPG

Card number two uses three different designer papers.smileybooyahani.gif

blog178card2withwm.JPG

There is no stamped sentiment on this card.  The words are part of one of the designer papers.  The bird is embossed in silver.

blog178card2closeupwithwm.JPG

Besides using a couple of designer papers, I also used a wide crocheted lace ribbon and scalloped satin ribbon on card number three.  There are lots of patterns and textures here for sure!

blog178card3withwm.JPG

I love these little heart charms, too.

blog178card3closeupwithwm.JPG

The last card uses a piece of designer paper that includes the floral image.  The sentiment is stamped directly onto the designer paper.

blog178card4withwm.JPG

The heart is embossed in silver.

blog178card4closeupwithwm.JPG

I have another One Sheet Wonder in the works to help me part with even more of my treasured paper.  It’s a trick that I’ve discovered enables me to use the paper because there is no wasted little bits and pieces.

Happy Crafting!

This week some of my new SU! toys arrived.  “Lots of Bots” is one of the new sets that will be in their catalog.  I used one of the cute little images on my card.  The round bodies of the robots are cutout and popped up.

blog179closeupwithwm.jpg

A combination of Copics and SU! markers was used to color the images.

The sun is shining in Seattle today, and when that happens in Seattle you HAVE to take advantage of it immediately.  You never know how long you’ve got!  lol   So I’m off to soak up some Vitamin D!

I love these cute little Inchie Squares.  In fact they are so fun that today in the CLASSroom I’ve made an Inchie Puzzle Card using 15 of them!  Hope you will come on over and check it out.

Jun 042009

Really?  Is it possible to have too much paper?  I’m beginning to think, “YES!”  And so I am on a quest with my paper.  I’m not going to throw any of it out.. oh heavens no!!  I plan instead to USE it!  And so here are a couple of cards using some SU! designer papers.

blog177cardswithwm.JPG

Both cards have the same basic layout and enabled me to use four different patterns between the two.

A sweet young friend of mine is having her fourth baby this month.  She currently has three darling (and they really are just the cutest!) boys.  She has found out that this one is a girl!  Her DMIL threw a baby shower for her yesterday.  This is the card I made for her.

blog177cardtickledwithwm.JPG

Of course I had to add some sparkle to the buggy with a Stardust Glitter Pen.
blog177tickledcloseupwithwm.JPG
One of those newish big grommets from SU! was added to the bow.
blog177tickledbowwithwm.jpg

The second card uses one of my new stamps from Lost Coast Designs.

blog177cardballerinaswithwm.JPG

I loved this Degas-look image called “Two Ballerinas”.  Having been a ballerina (in a past and much skinnier life) I couldn’t resist it.

I thought it would be fun to stamp, cutout and pop up a second tutu for the front dancer.  Oh yes and of course some glitter was needed! hehe
blog177ballerinascloseupwithwm.JPG

Quests can be so much fun, especially if they involve paper.  Besides it is getting increasingly difficult to justify buying more when I don’t use what I already have!

Happy Crafting!
