A couple of years ago I purchased some linen ribbon with the intent to use the cute Santas on the ribbon for Christmas cards.  I finally got around to doing it!

The first card is very CAS and took only a couple of minutes to make!  Once cut, 2 or 3 threads were pulled off both top and bottom to create a fringe border.  The fringe was then colored with a Copic marker to match the stitching on the edge.  After taping the ribbon onto the cardstock, the wire which came as part of the ribbon was pulled out of the sides.

The second card has a few layers of cardstock.  Designer paper was also used along with a brad on the end of Santa’s hat.  The fringe has not been colored on this card.

The wire was again removed after the ribbon was adhered to the cardstock.  Santa’s beard was cut out from a second Santa and used to add a little more dimension and fun.

This last card was made using one of the images cut from a printed satin ribbon.

So fun, quick and easy!

Got ribbon?

Oct 202012

My card today was made for the Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenge this week to “have an image (or die cut) of a tree on your card or project.”

For the most part, I’ve been trying to keep my Christmas cards more postage-friendly this year.  There are no lumps or bumps at all on this card as this fun tree image does all the work.  It was colored with Copics.

Here is a set of three Clean and Simple (CAS) Christmas cards that could all be easily mass produced.

The one layer card (center) was made for the Less Is More Week 89 “Wings” Challenge.

LOVE these glitter buttons and glittery tape.  The berries were added to the branch with a Copic marker.

Another card was made using this same Memory Box “Orchard Bird” image.

On this card, a second layer and crocheted doily were added to the design.

The third card again uses the red and white theme.

Dry embossing adds lots of interest without adding additional weight for a more postage-friendly card.

It’s not CAS.  It’s not for any challenges.  I made a card just for fun!

I so love these crocheted doilies and this new sweet floral set from SU!.

Sometimes it’s nice to just sit down and create for no reason at all.

What are the odds?  There are 9 birds, 1 bow and a very hard to see score line.  That is the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week.. to use an odd number of something on your card.

Yeah, the score line is there right below the birds!

This card uses the same sketch as my last post.  It’s just rotated 180 degrees.  I’m really starting to love CAS!

This week’s challenge on the CAS-ual Fridays’ blog is to create a clean and simple project inspired by your blog header.  Here’s what I came up with:

I love making Christmas cards with a CAS (Clean & Simple) design as it helps to make the large number of cards needed a whole lot easier.  Plus, it also saves on postage!

But I think it is the elegant feel of a CAS design that I love the most.

Each month the winner for my sketch challenge is drawn by putting the names of all those participating into a hat.  The winner of my September Sketch Challenge is Bonnie aka raduse .  Congrats, Bonnie!!  Hope you have lots of fun with this Stampin’ Up! stamp set.

My next sketch challenge will be posted on October 15th.
