Nov 282012

I made one more card using my Rainy Day Sketch for November.

One of the best things about this sketch is it allows for three different designer papers to be used.  Gotta love that!  The designer paper used here is all from Basic Grey’s “Lucille” collection, and it is GORGEOUS!!  A brand new 6×6 pad will be given to a randomly drawn winner chosen from those who participate in the SKETCH CHALLENGE FOUND HERE.  There are still a few days left to play along.

Oh and I also love feathers!  They are so fluffy and fun.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Happy Crafting!

My soon-to-be four year old granddaughter loves dinosaurs and purple.  Knowing this I made her a T-Rex birthday card a few months ago for her upcoming birthday.  I have since learned that Pterodactyls are her favorite of all the dinosaurs.

Well since I also had a Pterodactyl stamp, a second card was a must.

This week’s Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenge is to make a card for a child.  This card will qualify for that as well as for this week’s ColorQ Challenge.
I don’t actually have the colors that they name, but I hope that the colors used are close enough to play along.

If you haven’t seen my Sketch Challenge for this month, check it out HERE.

You have until December 1st to enter to win the beautiful Basic Grey 6×6 Paper Pad  “Lucille.” The patterns in this collection are amazing!

Here is another CAS Christmas card design that is super quick and uses some of my beloved patterned papers.

The cream panel on the blue card has a couple of score lines.  These, along with three buttons, add some interest and dimension.

The cream panel on the green card has a pierced border.  A punched scalloped oval window shows the card base.  The oval sentiment inside the window is raised on dimensionals.

I’ve played around with so many different designs for Christmas cards this year.  Maybe I won’t have to mass produce any of them after all!

It’s time for November’s Rainy Day Sketch Challenge!  Here is this month’s sketch.  It was inspired by this darling card over at Diane Zachman’s blog, “Paper Cookies.”

I made a couple of cards, too, to show the sketch in action.  lol

The first card shows the sketch rotated 180 degrees.

Love CAS designs, and I love the simplicity of this heart and sentiment with it’s sweet little button.

The second card shows the sketch with an orientation like the drawing.

I also love the vintage look with lace and pearls and a crocheted doily flower.  A little flourish peeks out from behind the designer papers.

To make the pennant shaped panel, I cut three coordinating pieces of designer paper and lined them up side by side with the pattern side face down.  The center of the middle strip was marked.  Taking a square piece of cardstock, I placed it at the bottom of the strips with one of the corner points placed on the center mark high enough that the outside bottom corners of the strips were also covered by the square.

I marked the “V” and cut.

The blog candy this month is a brand new 6×6 pad of Basic Grey’s “Lucille” designer paper.  It is one of the most beautiful selection of papers I have ever seen!  All of the designer paper used on both of my cards are from this collection.  It will be sent to a randomly drawn winner from those who play along in the challenge.

To play just leave a link to your creation in the comments section.  A winner will be drawn on December 1st giving you a little over 2 weeks to participate in the challenge.  Oh and please make sure that the link you leave goes to the specific card you are entering and not to your blog or gallery in general.  Hope you can find some time to play!

Edited 12/01/12:  This post is now closed for comments.

Recently I purchased this beautiful silhouette Nativity stamp.  Couldn’t wait to make a few cards with it.

The first card uses a couple of different designer papers from My Mind’s Eye “Oliver” collection.  A COPIC Spica Glitter Pen was used to color the Christ child’s halo.

On this second card, the image was stamped directly onto the designer paper.

A Paper Crimper was used across the bottom of the card for some added interest and dimension.

With designer paper used as a background, the third card has a simple design.

Just for fun, little black rhinestones were added to the embossed scallop.

On the fourth and final card the image was again stamped directly onto the designer paper.

Slowly but surely my Christmas cards are getting done!  Just a little more time left.  Happy Crafting!

It’s a classic sketch.  And surprise surprise,  I’ve fed the addiction and used some designer papers!

Cards are quick and easy.. no coloring just stamping.

The main tree image on the second card was also lightly stamped several times as a background on the designer paper.

After coloring the rubber stamp directly with a marker, it was spritzed with water right before stamping.  I love this technique which gives a wonderful watercolor look to the image.

Each month the winner for my sketch challenge is drawn by putting the names of all those participating into a hat.  The winner of my October Sketch Challenge is conniecrafter.  Congrats, Connie!!  Hope you have lots of fun with this beautiful Tim Holtz stamp set.

My next sketch challenge will be posted on November 15th.
Happy Crafting!
