Here’s an easy and quick way to add interest to a sentiment.

The sentiment was first stamped on the card base. Then it was stamped a second time on the aqua cardstock and die cut using this Tri Square Wafer from Simon Says Stamp. To build some thickness and add dimension to the tiles, I cut out three more sets of squares.

All the pieces were glued together forming the tiles. I colored around the edges to create a distressed look and then placed them on the card base sentiment over the corresponding area.

Super fun and fast for a card that can be given to anyone!

Here is a birthday card for my 12 year old granddaughter.  She loves cats, and she loves to read.

Her favorite books right now are the “Warriors” series written by Erin Hunter.  She loves them so much that I decided I would read them, too, so that we could talk about all the adventures of the many cats that the books are about.  Okay.  I didn’t realize that there were nearly 100 books (so far!).  My granddaughter has every one of them!  She reads them as quickly as they are released.  I am starting the 3rd or 4th series.  We have so much fun talking about all the quests and life’s lessons that the books present.

The card is a fancy fold card box.  My card is a total CASE of the one found HERE on the tutorial for the design.

The card closes to a standard 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ size perfect for mailing.

A sentiment was placed on the black card stock band which keeps the card closed until easily removed.

On a totally random note:

I love my Stamparatus, but the magnets are so strong that it can get really hard to pick them up and place them.  I saw this idea somewhere (wish I knew where now so that I could give credit).

Just wrap the magnets in some fun designer paper, and it makes a great flap.  It allows for a much easier and controlled pick up and placement of the magnet.  AND..  you get to have these super cute designer paper covered magnets.  Seriously, what could be better!

Here is a quick and easy gift card holder design.  I’ve made these for Christmas giving, but a birthday or other occasion sentiment could just as easily be stamped and different patterned papers used.

Speaking of stamping, one of my most favorite stamping tools is my Stamparatus.  The sentiment on all of these cards had to be positioned only one time.  I could then stamp all the cards so fast and so easily with perfectly aligned/straight sentiments.  I’m not a Stampin’ Up demonstrator any more, but I still recommend this tool.  Love it!

A metal tab holds the card closed.  To open the card, just turn the tab.

Here’s a template if you want to give it try.

Oh and if you do decide to make this card holder design, be sure to attached the brad and tab before taping the sides of the card holder pocket.  (Believe me as I speak from experience, it’s much harder to put on the brad after the sides have been taped!)

Dec 212015

This year my neighbor covered her tree with darling little red and craft colored decorations.  Seeing them reminded me just how much I love this color combination.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The little pinch of Stickles under the button gives a tiny bit of sparkle to the card while also helping to glue the button onto the wreath.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The card front is cut shorter than the inside of the card.  This allows for some of the designer paper which is adhered to the inside of the card to be seen when the card is closed.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

And when you open the card, you still get to see some of the lovely red and craft paper.

Thankful.  Grateful.  Just a couple of words that describe how I feel this Thanksgiving time.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The image was stamped three times, and the little leaves were colored with Copics.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The sentiment was cut out and popped up on foam tape.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

With card 2, the image was stamped directly onto the patterned paper.  It was also colored with Copics, die cut and popped up on foam tape.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The white card stock was also die cut with the tree die, cut at the top and bottom of the tree so that the pieces could be separated leaving a small border around the image.  Both of these card stock pieces were also popped up on foam tape.  Love the dimension and depth this gives to the design.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!

Challenges:

Both Cards are joining the Simon Says Monday Challenge: “Thanks/Thanksgiving” and Craftyhazelnut’s Patterned Paper November Challenge.

Card 2 is playing in Pixie’s Snippets Playground-Week #204.  My favorite snippet is the little section of picket fence and the sweet snippet of patterned paper with all those darling little houses.

Oh and if you have a minute and want to see a fun and joyful dance, check this out.  My son, Jared, was in India a couple of weeks ago attending the wedding celebration of a good friend.  Jared and his girlfriend, Michelle, participated in the dancing for the bride and groom.  Fun stuff.

Happy Crafting and
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Here are three cards made with a fun new set called “Acorny Thank You.”

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This first card is a clean and simple design.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The acorn was stamped with a water base ink and then shadowed with a Copic marker.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This acorn uses a couple of the different patterns available in the set.
Stripes + Polka-dots = Love!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The little heart buttons in my stash were all yellow, but this orange nut needed green.  It just did.  So I took a Copic marker and colored it.  Problem solved.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Designer paper was used with the acorn punch for these hanging nuts.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Magnets were placed on the tops and bottoms of each acorn for some mix and match-ability.

Today is the final day to upload cards for the Dare To Get Dirty Challenges over at Splitcoaststampers, and I have five cards to share!

This first card fits into four of the challenges: DTGD15DiniA, DTGD15vdutchr, DTGD15UnderstandblueA and DTGD15LMcAree.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This was the first time I’ve played at making a watercolor wash background and admit to using a big background stamp to help me with it.  Once the stamp was inked, I spritzed on some water and then stamped.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This card is for the DTGDvasunshine challenge.  It may be my first Christmas card for the year.  Gotta start somewhere!

DTGD

The star is popped up on foam tape for some fun dimension.

DTGD

This third card is for the DTGD15StampmommaB challenge.  It is what I call a “recycled” card to help my hubby out of an awkward situation!Smiley.TeeHeeAni  (See below.)*

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Lots of foam tape on this image panel and the sentiment.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

*Over the years with birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day and other miscellaneous occasions my DH has accumulated quite a large number of handmade cards from me.  And he doesn’t know what to do with them afterwards.  He doesn’t want to toss them.  He thinks this would hurt my feelings.  But he really doesn’t have any place to put them either.  So I decided to rescue him from his dilemma.  After he has had them out for a week or two, I take them back and recycle them.  He is TOTALLY okay with this.  In fact, I think he is relieved!  lol  It is especially fun to dress up the earlier cards.  Below is the original of the card above.  The new version is already off to my DBIL.  And he can do whatever he wants with it afterwards with no worries.  Smiley.GrinHugeAni

Blog586OriginalCardWithWMSharp

Original card on Splitcoastampers..

Card four is for the DTGD15JeanneS challenge.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This gears die seemed like the perfect companion for this Graphic 45 patterned paper.  The large butterfly is popped up on foam tape for some depth and dimension.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Made a trip to my local craft store over the weekend and found lots of NFL goodies.  Had to have some!  Will be sending these fun stamps off to my Tucson Seahawk loving son and family.  Kinda hard for them to find much of this sort of thing there.  lol

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Made a card for fun with some of the designer Seahawk paper to go along with it all.  Added a little football brad to finish off the fun.

This card will be playing along in the DTGD15StampmommaA and DTGD15fattire7 challenges.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Hand drew a frame around the image of Seattle and added a “12” flag at the top of the Space Needle.

The Dare to Get Dirty Challenges are continuing over at Splitcoaststampers, and today’s card is playing along in three of them.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The “sand” in this beach scene was made by tearing four strips of cardstock, distressing it with ink, and layering.

There is a row of embossing across the top of the card.  I love this cute little folder.

Splitcoaststampers (SCS) is the world’s largest stamping community, with more than 400,000 members of which many are Fan Club Members.  Each year several of the past and the 12 current designers at SCS (known as the Dirty Dozen) have a week long challenge-fest (40 challenges this year!) known as “Dare To Get Dirty (DTGD).” These challenges are especially for the Fan Club Members to say “Thank You” for their support.

Today is Day #1 of Dare to Get Dirty, and I am hosting a challenge which you can see HERE.  (You must be a Fan Club Member to access.) The cards that I am sharing are example cards for my challenge.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s a little tip.  I like to punch different colored circles to place behind buttons.  By doing this you can really change the look and “pop” of a button.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This second card will be for my father-in-law’s birthday.  My hubby was recently saying how much he appreciates the fact that his dad, even in financially thin times, had a small boat that the family would enjoy all summer long.  It made for some happy family times.  He can write his dad a note on the inside to that effect.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

A little piece of twine adhered to the punched anchor adds a fun element and completes the card.

Made a card using one of the dies from the awesome Papertrey Ink “One Liners: Happy Die” set.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Besides cutting the die out of the plaid patterned paper, three cuts were made with white cardstock.  All four layers where glued together with the plaid piece on top.  It was then placed back into the cutout on the plaid paper.  Love the dry embossed look this creates.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

When I ordered this die set I accidentally ordered two sets. Smiley.SheDidItAni
