I am very appreciative of all your comments of support. One thing though… I never said that I wasn’t going to continue using SU! lol I am just dropping my demonstratorship. I will admit that I’m having a bit of trouble being inspired by any of their images right now, but this too will pass. So, the words of encouragement and support were very much appreciated!! Last week I played along in Unity’s Bachelor Bro Challenge #3 to use polka dots and plaids on a project. Well I love Basic Grey’s June Bug collection, so I used that on my challenge card. While putting it away… a second card happened! How fun is that! lol

The designer paper may be called “June Bug”, but it sure looked like it had Christmas possibilities. Using some of the scrap and already cut pieces, Polka Dots & Plaid II came together. I was wishing that I had some lace ribbon that suggested snowflakes, so decided to take a floral lace and clip off part of the design. What was left? Snowflakes! (sorta)

The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms Mona Lisa Moments “Christmas Expressions”.

Some new Stampin’ Up! products arrived this week! Of course, I had to play!

This is the new set called “Delightful Decorations”. There is an ornament punch, too, which makes it so easy and so fun to decorate! I also used the new Sizzlits Merry Details die for the snowflakes. The DSP is also in the new SU! Holiday Mini Catalog available September 1st.

Since it’s still August, I thought it might be fun to see if I could turn this Christmas set into something that could be used right now.

So I made a flower with one of the ornament stamps! Too fun! I sponged around the “petals” using the punched out area to mask the outer border. (When stamping the ornament I also used the rock n’ roll technique to further emphasize the border.)

As promised there is some wonderful JustRite blog candy today! But first let me show you a couple of tags and a fun card I made using the JustRite “Sonnet Stamper-10 Designer Centers and Borders” Set.

The card also uses Flourishes newly released set “Sleigh Ride”.

The lush gift boxes are spruced up a little more with tags and some May Arts ribbon.

Aren’t these tree ornaments cute!

Flourishes Releases - "Poinsettia and Boxwood" "Holiday Greetings" and "Sleigh Ride"

Today I have two cards which feature three of the Flourishes newly released Christmas sets. The first card is made with the large poinsettia image in the “Poinsettia and Boxwood” set. It also uses one of the sentiments in the “Holiday Greetings” set.

The images were all stamped using Ruby Red classic ink and VersaMark. (I have two VersaMark pads. One is kept clean. The other is almost black as I often use it to put VersaMark on a stamp that already has ink on it. Such was the case here. Because of the “dirty” VersaMark ink, it changed the color of the Ruby Red ink to more of a brownish color.) The flowers and sentiment were stamped on Basic Grey’s “Two Scoops” designer paper and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Two of the four cutout flowers were stamped on the darker of the two pink papers in the series. (This was also how the background panel was made.) One flower was stamped on the plaid and one on the dotted design. The patterned flowers were cut out in whole. The pink flowers were cut out around selected petals. I watercolored the centers of the smaller pink flowers with Ruby Red reinker. Once it was dry I added Stickles.

The second card uses the new “Sleigh Ride” set.

So where’s the sleigh? Well I just couldn’t resist those cute little miniature images. I made a scene, sparkled it up with my Stardust Clear Glitter Pen and some Stickles and framed it with a metal tag.

I finished the card with some dotted May Arts ribbon and Kaiser rhinestones.
