How do you know when you’ve been away from your stamping table for too long?  When a spider has moved in and calls it home!

Today my new SU! stamps arrived.  So of course I hurried up to my stamp room with the box containing my newly delivered toys.  I sat down at my table and there he was a happy little spider in the middle of his web which was built in and around the shelves and markers.  I wonder how long he has been calling this home.  Well to make a long story short, he is now out in the garden hopefully much happier than he would have ever been playing with my Copics!  lol

So I got my sets mounted and decided to play along with the Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers today.

What a wonderful sketch!  It was perfect for using some of the new designer series paper (dsp), too.  (The first card has the sketch turned 90 degrees.)

Have you ever played along in any of the challenges at Splitcoaststampers?  If not, give it a try!  But a warning:  It’s addictive!!

——————————

The wheat was stamped with Creamy Caramel, VersaMark and then clear embossed.  The pheasant was stamped with Chocolate Chip Classic ink and then colored with Copics to give some subtle color.

  3. WOW! These cards are GREAT, Susan! I love how you added the subtle color to the pheasant. And don’t tell me about spiders . . . I stamp in a MN basement! lol!

  4. I had a centipede in my washer last week EWW! Like you, I scooped him up and tossed him out to resume life in a more appropriate home! I’m still shuddering over that! LOL
Good for you getting your new SU stamps! I’ll order mine later this month, but I also had my eye on that pheasant! Beautiful cards, both of them, and they work perfectly with the sketch! I love the Autumn theme and colors and those corduroy buttons are such a perfect touch!

  5. Susan you crack me up. A spider in my house would of gone to spider heaven. lol You are much kinder…. hee hee Glad you got your new goodies, your cards are super cool. Love the masculine feel of the pheasant!

  6. They are absolutely beautiful! So glad you got new stamping goodies!

  7. Susan, love these cards. What pretty colors and a great way to put them both together. My mother would be so proud of you for putting Mr. Spider in the garden. Good for you! I’m not sure if he could appreciate your cards as much as we do anyway. 🙂

  8. LOVE them!!! I liked both of those sets, and you made them so pretty!

  9. Susan, your mojo always shines. These are fabulous cards that are so pretty and showcase the new stamps beautifully.

  10. You’re a better person than I…mr. spider would’ve been stuck to the bottom of my shoe in a heartbeat if he’d camped out in our house –heck, even if he had the misfortune of just passing thru! Not sure what it is about them, but they just give me the creeps (even the little ones). Ever since my mom was bitten TWICE by a brown recluse (it was hiding in her nightgown), I imagine them crawling on people while they sleep — no, thanks. Okay, so now that we have that out of the way…. lol

Your cards are great, and I especially love your peasant card –it looks so life-like (wonderful testament to your coloring talent). Both are great guy cards –gotta love that!

  11. Well, I found two of the critters today, just hanging at the base of the wall…already gone to meet their Maker…thankfully, or I would not have been as kind as you were.

Both of your creations are stunning! Hard to think of fall colors here in 95 degree temps with high humidity on top of it but I’m loving that pheasant more and more and the farm scene is just so beautifully colored…I’m wishing I had ordered them.

  12. You are so good, moving the spider outside. While I respect and appreciate them outside, if they come into my house they are smashed! (preferrably by my hubby since I am too scared!) 🙂 Beautiful cards!! (oh crud, I just glanced up and accidentally read stampmonkey’s comment, I didn’t need THAT image in my head…!) 🙂

  13. So that’s where the spider went that escaped from my stamp table. 😉 Seriously, I had one on mine too, but it went somewhere before I could flatten it. Love your cards Susan. I need to ink up my pheasant set and that barnyard set is going on my wish list for sure.

  14. What wonderful cards, Susan! That pheasant image is amazing — and I hate to admit that I have not even looked at my new catalog yet! But from these samples, I’m guessing I should — LOL!!! And you are just TOO kind to your uninvited guest!!! LOL!!!

  15. love these! And is the banner new? cute!

  16. Really love the pheasent and the way his tail comes off the paper, cute barn scene card too!

  17. Absolutely love your pheasant card — that set is definitely on my to-be-bought list. Haven’t had the chance to play with this week’s sketch, but love your takes on it!

  18. The sketch worked out beautifully for these images. Love the out of the box cutting, and the designer paper is a perfect companion. Same goes for the Rustic Retreat ribbon. It’s as though it was just waiting for this paper to come along!

  19. FANTASTIC!!! Both cards are wonderfully creative and your coloring is awesome! You did an amazing job of creating with your new toys!!! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Oh and just so you know … Spiders work VERY fast!! I’m in my craftroom EVERY day and I’m constantly relocating these little annoyances!!

  20. Your sketch cards are wonderful, Susan!! Your pheasant card is so pretty, and I love those farm animals!!

  21. Don’t feel bad–I had a mouse in my stamp room! He was after some M&M’s I had left on the shelf from an Easter project. I just got the Autumn Days set, too, and can’t wait to play with it. Thanks for the inspiration!
