Jan 102011

Katelyn, my youngest granddaughter, celebrated her 2nd birthday yesterday.  This is the card I made for her.

Lucky for me, I got to give it to her in person a few days early.  My whole family.. all 4 of my sons and their families met in Las Vegas and brought in the new year together.  It was a wonderful way to start 2011!

The little bear’s dress has been paper pieced.  I used Copics to color her and to shade parts of the paper pieced dress.  I also used a white gel pen on the dress to dot and accent different areas and fill in the collar and ribbons.

The second card was for my sister-in-law, Patty, whose birthday was a couple of month’s ago.

I used some Flower Soft on the sunflower’s center and then dabbed it with a Copic Marker which was a shade or two darker than the original color of the Flower Soft.  This created an interesting look of depth and shadows.

This striped designer paper from the Webster’s Pages “Wonderfall” collection was close but not the exact colors needed to match the sunflower.  So, I colored parts of the designer paper with the same Copics that were used to color the sunflower image.  Now it matched!  lol

And here are the Copics used for Patty’s card:

My next post will be offering some blog candy with a fun Valentine’s stamp set.

Thanks for dropping by today.
Happy Crafting!

Jan 052011

Over the holidays there have been lots of celebrations.  And one of the celebrations that I attended, although not associated with the holidays in general, does seem to happen more during this time of year than any other (with the possible exception of the month of June).   So what sort of celebration is it?  A wedding!

The image and sentiment are stamped directly onto the pink pinstripe designer paper.  And as usual I used the invitation for inspiration.

Now speaking of celebrations… I’m going to have some blog candy coming up soon to celebrate my birthday.  hehe  I love doing that!  So check back soon.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.

Happy Crafting!

Stamps: Verve “Love Story”

Papers: Papertrey Ink “Select White” and “True Black”; Making Memories “Pink Pinstripe” Designer Paper

Inks: Versafine “Onyx  Black”

Accessories: Martha Stewart Edger Punch “Simple Scallop” ; Flatback Pearls; GG Ribbon

Played in Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenge today.  The Sketch can be found here.

And this is the card I made for it.

However, I did change it a bit.

Because of the embossed background design, the image circle looked much better being centered as opposed to being offset to the left as the sketch shows.  I placed the bow to weight the left side “heavier” in an attempt to disguise it.  hehe

Cuttlebug’s new “Embossing PLUS” folders are so awesome!  They are embossing folders and die cuts all in one!  This is the “Blooming Bouquet” Embossing PLUS folder used on vellum.  LOVE it!!

Finally, congrats to Diane (cookiestamper) who is the winner of my blog candy!

Here are 3 cards for 3 challenges.

blog257setwithwm.jpg

The first card is for the Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenge #44.  The challenge was to “make a card with just words (a sentiment/verse).. no stamped images.”

blog257ssic44cardwithwm.jpg

The second card was for a Clean and Simple Challenge on Splitcoaststampers CAS72.  There was a sketch to follow.  After I finished it, though, it didn’t look all that “clean”; so it didn’t end up on Splitcoast.  I do have a hard time with those CAS challenges.  smileyscratchingheadani.gif

blog257cas72closeupwithwm.jpg

And finally the third card was for the weekly Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers SC285.  But it was completed a little late for the party and was never uploaded at Splitcoast, either.smileyshakingheadani.gif

To emboss the punched corner piece, I first taped it to the embossing folder with removable double sided tape.  This prevented the small corner piece from shifting or moving during embossing.

The sweet little bird image was colored with Copics and then cut out and popped up for some added dimension.

All 3 cards use Inchies, Inchie+ or Twinchies.  I keep learning more about Inchies.  Lisa Lee has written a wonderful and helpful post on her blog all in an inch that helps one tell the difference between the front and back of an Inchie.  She also shows why it makes a difference.

It’s the weekend!  Hope everyone has a great one.smileyflowerani.gif

Yup I’m still over in the CLASSroom having fun with Ellen’s “12 Days of Christmas”.  The project below was for Day 8 of the celebration, but because of some blog issues I wasn’t able to upload any pictures until now.

However, you still have until Thursday, January 7th to comment on all of the goodies up for grabs.  So if you haven’t been over there… well you really should make the trip!
